5.0 out of 5 stars The most amazing cookbook...
This cookbook is WONDERFUL for the college student. The first night I recieved my book, I actually had a good dinner. This book covers every step, and every ingredient needed to prepare each recipe. I don't know how I ever lived without this cookbook. Thank you very much to Suanne Beverly for writing this cookbook.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work as advertised
This book is supposed to hold your hand as you get into the world of easy, quick cooking. Unfortunately, it takes more time to find the recipes than it takes to cook them. The recipes are in no discernible order, the index is not sorted by recipe name and seems incomplete, and recipes listed on the menus don't seem to exist. For example, Week 1's recip Cheese and tomato...

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooking for the Fearful!, January 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Kitchenless Cookbook (Plastic Comb)
This book is the quintessential must-have for those of us who have a Culinaphobia--the fear of cooking. It breaks down gourmet meals to the down and dirty most basic instructions possible. It even has a recipe for boiling water! It give instructions for how to prepare anything and everything from washing vegetables to cleaning shrimp. It tells you when you can substitute, and when you should do it the hard way. The commentary throughout the book from the editor and author are hilarious. In general, it's an essential tool in a college student's library.

If you are a college student and must suffer through cafeteria food, this is a great cookbook for you! You can create tasty meals in the comfort of your own dorm room with only a blender and a microwave! If you can stuff one more thing in the car this is a must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Cookbook for the Dorm!, December 1, 1999

While I have been cooking for years, I didn't really know how to make complicated dishes without a true oven and stovetop. Even the most basic information helped me brush up on my techniques. THE PARTY RECIPES ARE ESPECIALLY GREAT!

For example, Week 1's recip Cheese and tomato pita does not exist. Other recipes must be found by flipping through all the recipe pages until you come to the one you want (or, as in the pita recipe, you don't come to it). Also, you are not told to buy a blender, but some recipes call for one. These may seem like quibbles, but for a book which is supposed to prepare you ahead for each recipe by telling you exactly what to buy, including utensils, and is supposed to be quick and easy, these are very frustrating shortcomings. And why would you create such an assinine index -- just list the recipes by name, alphabetically, so I can find them. This book is a waste of time and does not help you as advertised.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great with one suggestion, September 16, 2000
This review is from: The Kitchenless Cookbook (Plastic Comb)
I just received this book and I am looking forward to using it. It is well orgainzed and makes helpful suggestions to help you get started. It is great for the basics and the author takes nothing for granted. It has realistic shopping lists, tools and whatever you need to know to prepare good food. The author states the basics in a non-condescending way. The one suggestion I have is that the author should have included a brief paragraph on first-aid. Although I have been using a microwave for many years. I never had an accident. I spilled some cooked sauce on my wrist by accident and wasn't sure what the correct first aid would be. In case you should ever need it, it's cold water and ice. It is not food,ie butter or vaseline as many people think. Hope you never have an accident and enjoy the book. I am glad I have it. I am looking forward to using it.
