Okay I bought this because I was craving some fish curry like my Mum used to make. I have to tell you it came close. For the less culinarily (is that a real word??) gifted like me, it is god-sent. Cook the fish, add water and paste and viola you have fish curry.
For those of you who swear by making their own curry paste from scratch, please contact me so I can come over :)

I am constantly on the lookout for new ways to cook fish and avoid a bit of red meat. This curry paste tastes great and is so fast.
No one yet has detailed the preparation so here goes, take notes, it's complicated: 1. Dump 1 lb of firm white fish into a pan. 2. Put in the paste and 2/3 cup water. 3. Boil for 10 minutes. Serve over rice (what I did), roti,or naan(?) I put some coriander in at the last minute to give it some color, and added some onions. Very good. Hot (I sweated a bit) but good hot. They suggest adding 2 tbs grated coconut as a variation, I think it will be just as good with shrimp or shellfish as with the cod I used. Very pleased.

For quickie Indian food, I love all the Kitchens of India stuff, but I thought the fish curry was particularly tasty. I also like it with coconut milk added for a creamy version. Throw in some freshly ground cardamom or a little lime to tart it up a little. Easy peasy lemon squeezie.

This blend is wonderful!!!!!!! Often times we use add this mixture our fresh homemade ripened tomato puree add some herbs both fresh and dry such as fennel, cumin, rosemary, fresh ginger and so on add some coconut milk.Add this to red lentils or even better in my opinion chick peas and serve over quinoa, basmati or even jasmine rice. Our family gives thanks for this product because it's a great way to eat Indian cuisine at home :)

I have bought some of the jarred/canned cooking sauces and not been all that impressed. I bought this a while back and it's been sitting in my pantry. I finally got around to trying it and was blown away. I used a pound of shrimp, a handful or two of cashews, and coconut milk instead of water. Yummy!!! I may try making a potato curry using a bag of those pre-diced-potatoes-with-onion (not sure if I can Simply say the brand name :-) that you find in the deli case at the supermarket. I think that will be good too. And more economical.

I love Indian food and often buy various curry pastes in a local Indian store. I decided to try Kitchen of India Curries, and this Fish Paste was the first one I have tried.
I am attaching 5 photographs I took along my preparation. The paste comes in a silver blister pack that can be stored without refrigeration for a long time. So these packages are good to keep on hand when you need a quick meal. Photo shows blister pack just taken out of the package. The second photo shows the paste removed from the package, so you can see the amount you get in package. The recipe on the box tells us to add 2/3 of the cup of plain water and dissolve the paste. Dissolved paste is shown on the next photo. The paste dissolved easily, it only took a few minutes. The fourth photo shows salmon covered with the fish sauce about to go into a microwave. The fifth photo shows the cooked dish ready to be consumed with some rice. Overall, I liked the flavors, however I found the sauce too salty for my taste. I had scrape it off the fish to enjoy it more, however what penetrated the fish and a little of the sauce that was left mixed with rice tasted very good. I think next time, I will try dissolving the paste in 1 cup coconut milk or 1 cup of water (upping the amount recommended on the box) to dilute the salty flavor more. The box said that there is enough paste for 4 servings, and in fact this was exactly right. The amount you see in the photos will be 4 servings of fish. Each serving of sauce is 45 calories. I suspect it was less for me since I did not eat all of the source due to saltiness. The amount of Sodium per serving is 580 mg. I bought a variety pack, so I compared the amount of Sodium in Fish curry to other flavors from Kitchens of India, and Fish curry has the second lowest amount among the 6 flavors. So this tells me to dilute the next one I try more than I plan to dilute this one. So bottom line: I found the flavor to be pleasant, and the I believe the saltiness can be improved by using more water/coconut milk to dissolve the paste than recommended on the package.

We already tried the butter chicken and it was great. We used halibut for this one and it came out good. Obviously not as good as we can make at home but for the time, effort and taste, this is well worth it.

I love this brand and how easy it is to fix the curry dish. It's a great way to give fish a new, spicy taste. Serve with plain, brown, or Jasmine rice and a compatible vegetable and you've got a simple, tasty, filling dinner.
