There are plenty of opportunities for the story reader to have some fun, with words like "zoom, zoom, zoom" and "splat. splat. splat."

Will Hillenbrand is one of my favorite picture book artists, so I was very glad to see the return of Mole and Bear in Kite Day. Our two fast friends are back, and this time, they are building a kite to fly! From the first page, when Bear sticks is snout up in the air to determine that today is "Kite Day", to the dramatic snapping of the kite string, and finally to the feel good ending when we see that the kite is providing a welcome relief from the rain to a family of birds, Kite Day is full of energy and charm that is sure to engage any young kite flyer. This is a perfect choice as a toddler or preschool read aloud as the text is spare, and the characters are so large and colorful. There are plenty of opportunities for the story reader to have some fun, with words like "zoom, zoom, zoom" and "splat. splat. splat." The book has a smooth, straight forward, read aloud flow that even the youngest listeners will easily follow.

Bear and Mole are so charming and expressive, they are sure to touch the heart of any young reader. This is a perfect addition to any classroom's spring collection, and is going in my permanent story time collection! Don't miss this energetic ode to the joy of friendship and the fun to be had in working together.

A new book to read with my granddaughter (she loves books); followed by kite flying in the park. Makes for a fun day.

This is an adorable book with easy text. We read Spring is Here first, and my kids really enjoyed that story as well.

This easy to read book for 3-7 yr olds is very moves easily through the story's tale and is so colorful! I introduce it to my toddler class during circle time and their facial expressions were exciting with the turn of every page. After hearing and seeing the tale told; they had many questions. I enjoyed it just as much as my toddlers.

The story describes Bear and Mole building a kite on a beautiful day. A storm comes up and the kite crashes into a tree, but there forms a shelter for a nest of baby birds, much to the relief of Mama Bird. The characters' expressions are wonderful and the illustrations are colorful and fun. Wonderful book!
