I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old and 1 1/2 year old to play with at the park. With a light wind, I can launch it with my hand - no need to play out lots of line, run, or anything -- just hold it over my head and let go. I have flown it up to the limit of the provided string -- I think it's about 300', but it's most fun to fly it lower where the kids can see it better. At really low altitudes it can drop quickly when the wind changes, but you can pull on the string or run to keep it up. If I fly it up to about 80' or more where it's more stable, my 2 1/2 year old can hold it. If I pull it in to about 10', I can run around the park with it flying just overhead, buzzing the toddlers with the tail. It doesn't handle violent wind and gusts well, but it's not intended for that. It's so easy it might get boring for someone capable of handling multi-string stunt kites, but for any Charlie Brown, this is the right kite. There are other kites that fly easily, but these Easy Flyers are also supposed to have lighter line pull, making it less likely to pull or jerk the string out of a child's hand. Still, for under 5 year olds I do most of the flying. Therefore I'm going to try some helium balloons on the kite string instead. I'm also keen to try a KongMing lantern. Our area is popular for hot air ballooning and maybe when the kids are older we could build an RC balloon. A kite like this can get a lot of things started. Enjoy.

Just purchased this kite and tried flying several times. It is easy to launch and achieve height. However, the kite will list to the left side and dive straight to earth. This occurs even if the kite is high (300 ft) and no change in wind speed. I can tell the wind is adequate because there is adequate resistance on the string as this buddy swan dives. The listing is always to the left. Once it enters its death roll, it cannot be pulled out. I have an intermediate level of experience flying kites, and can't prevent this thing from crashing. I look forward to examining this kite for imperfections in the seams or asymmetry; problem is it currently is 50 ft above the ground in a tree. We also have the Large Easy Flyer Dog kite - it works as advertised. Flies well.

This is a great, easy to fly kite. And beautiful too. It's easy to put together and fold up - you insert the cross bar to put it together, then remove it to fold it up. The cross bar is the only piece that is removable (that can be lost). Great first kite. Comes with string (don't know how much) and a handle device that you can wind the string around.

I remember growing up thinking kites were hard to fly. We recently purchased this kite to start enjoying the spring outdoors with our daughter. I also bought the more premium string (Stake Line Winder, 500 ft) that simply clips on to the kite.

The setup is very easy. 3 metal bars and a loop for the string to clip on to. Took less than 5 minutes.

This kite practically flies itself. On a windy day, it takes no effort. On a slightly less breezy day, it still doesn't take much effort to throw it up and get it started. It can crash fairly quick and violently, but hasn't damaged the kite yet.

With our help, our 20 month old is able to hold on to the winder and "help" fly it as well!

Highly recommended for anyone wanting an easy, fun new toy.

Not happy with the purchase it could not get off the ground and was not easily controllable I bought this together with four other kites as its kite flying season in my country this was one of the worst buys it gets two stars only because its attractive to salvage some value perhaps I can hang it as a decoration in my son's room.
To be specific the cross spar did not give the kite much stability and there was some adjustment/ tightener thing at the end it did not come with instructions so did not know what it was. I tried different things to get it up and spend some minutes going over it but in the end put it down and usd the other three kites I bought.

This kite is well made and very light. We flew it yesterday in a gentle breeze and my 6 and 7 year olds were able to keep it aloft in less than ideal conditions. It's also very attractive and not the normal, cheapie plastic-type kite. Highly recommended.
