Too small,

We have a small dog and a cat, so we bought the small dog flap which is the same as the large cat flap but comes with the dog magnets, and then we bought these cat magnets separately. The dog worked out how to use the door fairly quickly, but the cat had real problems. It doesn't help that she only has one front leg, but the main difficulty was that with the small cat magnet her head had to be in exactly the right position for the flap to unlock and then by the time she got her head to the flap it had locked again. Finally I changed the cat magnet for the spare dog magnet, which looks huge on her but she doesn't seem to mind, and now the flap actually stays unlocked long enough for her to get through it. In short, we'd have been better off buying an extra set of dog magnets.

well made, sturdy & small, but works well with my Solo pet door and is much less expensive than the Solo item - the Solo door is great though & I highly recommend it.

Basically a review of the door, not the magnets,

The cat lost his collar somewhere in the great outdoors so we purchased two sets of magnets (not realizing there are 2 magnets per set) because we figured more magnets would be lost in the future. Magnet does not appear to be too bulky or heavy, but then I'm not the one wearing it. Cat doesn't seem to mind it.
As for the magnetic door itself, we bought it because raccoons had discovered the old flap door and were making a mess with the cat food and water. Within a few days the cat had learned to position himself just so to open the door though sometimes prefers to use the clicking noise of the solenoid as a door knocker calling us to open the human-sized door for him. The magnetic door is not 100% raccoon-proof. Found evidence one morning that a raccoon had managed to get in, probably by prying the door with its claws and pulling it open rather than pushing it. Following someone else's advice, we now have a radio by the cat door, tuned to a local talk-radio station, which we leave on continuously at night and when we are not home. It appears that the voices on the radio discourage the raccoons from making the effort to break in. The cat seems oblivious to the sound and walks in and out as he pleases. Probably should have tried the radio trick before buying the electromagnetic door. Still, it also keeps other cats out, so long as they're not wearing a magnet because their owners got them a similar door.
