Attention Grabbing Fun, and OH SO CUTE!,
This review is from: Kitten Party (DVD)
My kids LOVE this DVD. Ok, it's not a movie per se. It's not a story, but it does have little chapters that are each fun and different. We like to play it on mute sometimes just to see the kittens running around while we do other things in the room. It's just adorable. No other DVD I can find shows kittens being kittens. My kids love kittens but I'm allergic to cats, so this is our happy medium!

Fun, Energetic, and CUTE DVD for kids,
This review is from: Kitten Party (DVD)
My two kids, 3 and 5, really enjoyed this DVD. It's not a movie with a story, but a series of fun segments with kittens playing. It's so much fun. There are many dozens of different kittens and the music is upbeat and playful. For kids, the narration is fun, energetic, and educational.

Kitten party: an analysis of the cinematographic similarities to the popular film, puppy party,
This review is from: Kitten Party (DVD)
Kitten party was a beautiful piece of cinematography. I rate it 2 tails up. I have not watched puppy party, but I bet it is not as good. The complex and intriguing plot kept my friends and I sucked in for the full 75 minutes. We almost drove off the road it was so entrancing. I would give a recommendation for children, or for college students with too much time on their hands. Good for deaf people too; the plot thickens slowly and is manageable to follow, however you may miss out on the sing a long songs.

Kitten Party is a delightful movie for all ages. It is the long lost manuscript of John Steinbeck, rediscovered in 2010 and intended to be a fanciful kitten frolic/social commentary. The story is deceptively simple: two kittens, hard on their luck, dream of living off the fat of the land. You decide whether or not they succeed.

Very Adorable. Perfect for Younger Children,
By IE Mommy "Christine" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kitten Party (DVD)
Kitty Party is pretty much that...a DVD filled of footage of adorable kittens..romping, playing, tumblingaround and all in all being kittens. Very adorable. The IE Twins enjoyed Kitten Party because they love animals. But, it was not a video where they sat down and attentively watched it straight though. Rather they were busy playing and coloring while the video was on and on occasion would look up and say "awwww...". The twins are 7 so it may be a video geared for younger children that would more attentively watch the DVD from start to finish. We did review Puppy Party about a year ago and that particular video was watched from start to finish and over again...so it is only my speculation that the girls are now too old. It might be that they love doggies more then kittens. I would definitely pick this up for a toddler or preschooler. It would work great as an intro video for a babysitter or Sunday school as well. Overall I thought it was a sweet DVD.

A black screen appears. Suddenly, a creature emerges from the darkness. The animal presses its wet pink nose to the glass of the camera lens. What does this creature want? It wants what all kittens want: to play. It is this precise use of whimsy and innocent charm that has warmed the hearts of film critics and everyday viewers alike, compelling them to watch this instant classic time and time again, to take part in the cult phenomenon that is Kitten Party: The Movie.Who would have guessed that a film which was never even seen in theaters would amass such a strong and devoted following? The answer is simple: anyone who took the time to watch the film and appreciate it for what it is. True, Kitten Party may not follow standard conventions of plot or logic, but its undeniable charm lies in the fully formed characters portrayed by LongNeedle Entertainment. The actors themselves took method acting to a new level by actually being kittens. The cultural significance of this was best explained best by star Wiskers Maggoo, who stated: "Meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow, I can has cheezburgr? Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow; meow meow meow meow meow. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow." It is this min-bending level of authenticity that sets Kitten Party apart from Hollywood imitations, and allows it to transcend the usual predictability of mainstream film. Rather than using trite structural models that incorporate cause and effect, Kitten Party straddles the line between narrative film an documentary, providing the viewer with a world where kittens play for seventy minutes on end without the need for a love interest or huge reveal at the end. Just when you expect to see a kitten hop over another log, a sing along song pops out of nowhere to both entertain and engage. Using a structure and musicality reminiscent of A Mighty Wind (Christopher Guest, 2004), LongNeedle Entertainment relies heavily on the improvisational abilities of their aspiring young actors, a choice which has truly payed off and made Kitten Party a piece of american culture which will be long remembered.

Got my Brother-in-Law this as one of his birthday presents this year and its a winner. If you know someone who loves cats or someone like me who just loves kittens you cannot go wrong with this. Come on, little bundles of fur capering about madly! Gonna grab a copy for myself now of this and that puppy one, figure its a spirit lifter for those crappy days.

Haha, I bought this DVD for my cats! They liked it! I like it as well; however, it would have been better if the kitten sounds hadn't been edited out, i.e. too much human narration. I know this DVD was made for children, not cats, but still....

My son is crazy about kittens, so I thought this would be perfect for him. While he is (for the most part) completely happy with it, I was a bit disappointed.First of all the narration is constant, and unnecessary. A moment of quiet or background music would be nice. Additionally, as other reviews have stated, there is a high level of repeated footage. We have all seen kittens playing, there is no way you could not have gotten 75 minutes of adorable footage without a repeat. I would have to say the most annoying part of all though is the lapses into "other kitties in the animal kingdom", "completely unrelated animals", and "terrible computer animation". This is called "Kitten Party". I have access to plenty of other animal kingdom dvds for my child. I have plenty of access to poorly executed computer animation. Please do not use it as filler on this dvd. The price is cheap, but in this case, you get less than what you paid for. Heads up!

Not as fun as YouTube or Animal Planet!,
This review is from: Kitten Party (DVD)
I wouldn't recommend this for anyone over about age 5. Parents are likely to go nuts watching it because the script for this poor narrator could not possibly be dumber. Mute it and it's still a lot of the same clips over and over. YouTube has cuter kitten videos, so if you have Amazon.com access, use that computer to entertain your kids! :-)Still, though, this gets three stars because... Kittens, you know? Pretty much the best creatures ever. :-) It's cute if you have money to blow, but Animal Planet and YouTube are way better. |
