Editorial Reviews

2008 debut from the '50s obsessed trio. You'd expect any self-respecting young North London band that boasts an average age of 16 to spend an inordinate amount of time filling their iPhones with remixes downloaded from blogs, rather than cutting their tunes onto 78s. But then brother-and-two-sisters Rock 'N' Roll enthusiasts Kitty Daisy & Lewis are no ordinary band. The three siblings - now aged 15, 18 and 17 - first came together onstage at a Country and Rockabilly jam in a North London pub. Five years later the '50s music, fashion and technology obsessed family have built a massive word-of-mouth audience through a stream of rapturously received gigs and festival appearances and are ready to release their first long player on the Sunday Best label. 10 tracks.

1. Going Up The Country
2. Buggin' Blues
3. Polly Put The Kettle On
4. Honolulu Rock A Roll A
5. I Got My Mojo Working
6. Mean Son Of A Gun
7. Hillbilly Music
8. Mohair Sam
9. Ooo Wee
10. Swinging Hawaii

I was sitting home in cold Northern New Hampshire talking to my girlfriend on the phone... for background music I was listening to New Zealand National Radio on the Internet.

Will talking away, I heard this cool band doing "Going Up Country", the old Canned Heat Tune. I told Peggy I would have to call her back, because I missed the name of the band on Radio NZ, I got on the net and called Radio New Zealand immediately, and discovered this UK band.

They're a lot of fun, glad to see young folks performing and putting their on spin on things. (Another great band is Belleville Outfit!)

First off, what a FANTASTIC brother & sister trio!! (Mom & Pop are featured as well) These 10 tracks reminisce through many facets within the music genera, country, swing, 50's rock & even a couple of very likable Hawaiian tunes as well. I am shocked & in love with this new captured sound these cats put out, each song is sung from the heart & along with that comes SOUL. Each song has its own individuality, there is not one bad song on this CD & worth every penny. As a DJ I can honestly say these cats are going places!! Keep us swingin' cats with your hip grooves!! Schroeder (DJ WACK "O") of Orbital Traxx Records & Cult Movies Magazine

My ratings for each track.

1. Going Up The Country (FANTASTIC)
2. Buggin' Blues (I was bit by the bug & had to dance)
3. Polly Put The Kettle On (This song puts out the steam)
4. Honolulu Rock A Roll A (Catchy & very dancable)
5. I Got My Mojo Working (This song has its MOJO surely working)
6. Mean Son Of A Gun (This song will pistol wip you Daddy O)
7. Hillbilly Music (Rockin' country)
8. Mohair Sam (Amazing)
9. Ooo Wee (Some more amazing)
10. Swinging Hawaii (FANTASTIC)

This stuff sounds old, yet fresh. Something very different from the rest of the music that is being put out there today. Kitty and Daisy look very girlish, and when performing, look very cute. They make the band look very tasteful. Lewis looks like a character from the past. A handsome well groomed 50's rock and roll artist. I believe they will go far with their music ambition.

This is a bluesy, rockin', swingin' British family band. They do covers, as well as, writing, arranging, and self-recording creative originals. Not overly polished, their tunes are raw but at the same time ripe. Get too proficient and skilled on an instrument and the performer can sound too skilled and proficient -the excitement and thrill of the learning process is past.
The vine is strong, but the fruit begins to rot. These "kids" are pure enthusiasm. And with dad on guitar and mom laying down a driving bass, this combo is yah man! Groovy! Awesome! Cool! Dig it, Daddy-O!

We like this band a lot. They do not have the slick production of say, The Stray Cats, or The Reverend (Horton Heat) , or Louis Prima, but these siblings (and their mom and dad) bring a wonderful enthusiasm to all they do. The vinyl was a decent weight, and plays well on our turntable. Anytime this comes on, we're dancing and loving being together What more can one ask?

A great debut from a band that is living proof of the old saying 'rocknroll will never die'. Getting a copy on vinyl was a pleasure, just spun it at a gig the other night. Be sure to check out their softmore effort "Smoking in Heaven" and their new one "The Third" produced by The Clash legend Mick Jones !

and they were amazing! When Daisy starts on the snare (on "Going up the Country")...and later when Kitty went off on the harmonica- mesmerizing!

Great, fresh talent singing salt of the earth music. A great antidote to the overproduced product churned out by the record companies.
