Editorial Reviews

From the Actor

Both "Kitty Safari" and "Kitty Safari 2" are full of closeups of birds and squirrels in places cats would find them. But in "Kitty Safari 2", instead of music, there are all-natural sounds throughout. We found most cats reacted well to both videos, but some humans preferred the soothing natural soundtrack. Both videos use bird sounds as "attention-getters", helping cats to focus on the action on screen.

Product Description

Dateline NBC filmed cats pawing the screen watching our best-selling "Kitty Safari" video. Now "Kitty Safari 2" continues the adventure with more busy birds, squirrels and all natural sounds.

Cats love it! Some touch the screen, some look behind it when the critters disappear. So if you're looking for something made for a kitty's tastes, your hunt is over.

But your cat's has just begun.

5.0 out of 5 stars My cat LOVES it!, July 21, 2005
By
This review is from: Kitty Safari 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Feeling a bit guilty for having kids and putting most of the cat's toys away - and for spending less time with him since the kids came along - and going to work all day & leaving him home alone...(the list goes on)...I decided it was time to purchase a toy that didn't need me there for the cat to play with it.

I purchased this video, Kitty Safari 2 by Tom Wiecks, along with Feathers For Felines - Special Edition by Bill Hayward, after much consideration of many cat videos. It was a wise choice!

I have the option to "auto repeat" on my VCR. I put the tape in & set it to auto repeat - put a stool in front of the TV - and sat back & watched. My cat heard the birds and squirrels and immediately wanted to know where they were! He stalked the TV for a bit, then sat down in front of it yet sort of hiding behind the stool, as if to spy on the animals. Eventually he was on the stool and 'after' all the animals! A paw batting here & there, a look off the side of the TV as if to see where they went when they flew/ran off screen, and finally a content kitty curled up just right so that he can watch TV.

I left it on all day while at work and came home to find him in that same place by the TV, still watching. Eventually I had to turn the video off (my husband just didn't find it as entertaining as the cat did) and kitty curled up to take a nap. That's the best night of sleep I think he's gotten in a long time! (he's 15-16 years old) I think the video kept him up all day!

Anyway - kitty gives it 2 ears straight up, 4 paws prepared & ready to pounce, and whiskers forward! A definate must have for the cat lover!

One note - this is a bit short - would have prefered an hour.

1smileycat :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars This is awesome!, January 27, 2010
This review is from: Kitty Safari 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have two cats, and this video is a hit. (I posted customer images.) Daxter will meow very sadly when this short video comes to an end, and will sit there for about 5 viewings (on average). Matilda was smarter than Daxter. When she realize it was just something on the TV she left. Daxter, however, kept thinking he might eventually catch those pesky critters on the screen.

This video has birds, ducks, fish, etc. There's nice music behind it, which makes for acceptable background noise in the house. You just need to be aware that the cats will be scratching the TV screen in hopes of catching something, so don't play this on a TV with a sensitive screen of whatever sort. The cats will be climbing behind the TV to find the critters, too. It is so funny to watch!!!!!

My only complaints are that the video is only 25 minutes long, and it's only available on VHS. That's a huge bummer for me, as we just moved in with my mom and she doesn't have a VCR. I suppose I'll try my luck with one of the other videos available out there, but I'm worried it won't come even remotely close to the quality of Kitty Safari.
