(#3)the villain spittz some of the best material i have eva heard from his gab box! & last but not least (#4) probably the most important factor of all! this album stands side by side with EAZY-E'S "5150 HOME 4 THA SICK" as being the first 2 albums that EAZY & ruthless began to create the ultimate recipe for a classic rap/hip-hop album by releasing albums with 5 to 8 (hardworked/very well DONE)masterful tracks on them to form a masterpiece instead of loading an album with 15 or 20 HALF AZZ tracks that you end up shutting off halfway through cause they just wern't worked on hard enough!!! EAZY NEW HOW TO GIVE US FANZ EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED!GREAT ALBUMS! so hurry up & get this very hard to come by gem,if your a true fan you could never be dissapointed! p.s. R.I.P. 5.0 out of 5 stars MC Ren - Kizz My Black Azz EP, February 6, 2005
By
Tha Realest (Greensburg, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kizz My Black Azz (Audio CD)
After the break up of N.W.A, MC Ren stayed signed to Ruthless records and released "Kizz My Black Azz EP" as promotion for his upcoming album "Life Sentence"(the title was later changed to "Shock of the Hour").

1. Intro: Check It Out Y'all

2. Behind the Scenes - Good beat, Ren flow is real gangsta, there isn't really a hook, just a guy talking - 4.5/5

3. Final Frontier - Nice beat, Rens spits lyrics so raw its crazy, hook is good....the best song he ever made...classic - 5/5

4. Right Up My Alley - first minute is a skit which is pointless in songs, Nice beat, Ren comes correct, interlude type hook - 4/5

5. Hounddogz - Good beat, Ren spits about girls not showing him attention back in the day but tryin to suck up to him now that he's famous, hook is good - 4.5/5

6. Kizz My Black Azz - HARD beat, Ren raps fast and hardcore, hook is good - 5/5

Overall: 23/25

5 Stars

Ren lives up to his name as the ruthless villain and rips up every track on here. It's just a shame how he never gets his respect for being in the N.W.A and still made good music after they broke up.

This cd is tight it starts off wit scratchs by bobcat he scratchs rens voice from previous nwa songs.Behind tha Scenes is about ren rappin about this girl he knows from school he talks about him and his crew about gettin her wet and all dat stuff its just like just dont bite it.Final Frontier is about ren beatin people down for talkin about him and at concerts about slappin girls and lettin people know where hes from and writin those songs dat u love to hear.Right up my alley is about rens crew gettin in a fight wit this other crew and ren tryin to stop it which is funny cuz i alwayz thought ren would be tha one startin everythang when tha beat starts ren starts talkin about u cant come around his alley wit ur bulls''t or he'll put a bullet in ur hear and wynd up dead he'll send u home in a bodybag.Hounddoggz is about people sayin dat ren isnt gonna make it big and then people start sayin dat they where behind him all tha way.Kizz My Black Azz is about people dont go to rap concerts to see a band.So get this like tha other reviewer said get this before its too late.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC debut solo EP from the Villain, February 12, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kizz My Black Azz (Audio CD)
MC Ren drops his solo debut album (though it's really an EP at 5 songs, like Eazy E's "5150..." or "It's On..." albums), and much like those, this is also a great album. I forgot how good this was when I rebought it (it's been about 10 years since I've heard it), and boy was I glad I got another copy. As always, Ren has some vulgar and dirty lyrics from start to finish, a formula he kept true to over the years. Of the 5 songs, 1 is a classic, 1 is almost a classic, the other 3 are very good songs. There are no guests, just Ren. production is very good as well. Bobcat does 4 songs and Torcher Chamber does 1. A must have album from the golden age of Rap.

#2 - 9 (nice dirty song with some upbeat production)
#3 - 9 (tight beat)
#4 - 9.5 (long intro but very good song and beat)
#5 - 10 (CLASSIC with a great beat)
#6 - 9 (nice upbeat track)

4.0 out of 5 stars That Other Guy From N.W.A. (4 Stars), March 1, 2006
This review is from: Kizz My Black Azz (Audio CD)
I look at Ren the same way I look at Ghostface: He may not be the best MC in his crew, but he's the most consistent and definitely the most underrated. Kizz My Black Azz was the highly anticipated EP from Ren right after the split up of NWA. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I was one of the people that couldn't wait to get my hands on this back in '92. The production is dope and Ren brought those hard lyrics that everyone loved from his NWA days. Bangers like "Behind The Scenes" and "Right Up My alley" make this worth owning. And then there's the classic "Final Frontier". The only disappointment for me was the fact that it was only a 6 track EP (it clocks in at just over 25 minutes).

I didn't give this 5 stars because it doesn't quite stand up to the test of time. Some of the slang is a little dated, the heavy handed P-Funk samples don't hit like they used to, and there are two joints that are kind of weak ("Hounddogz" and "Kizz My Black Azz"). The rest of the album is smooth sailing.

Kizz My Black Azz is one of those joints that manages to fall through the cracks. His consistency and great albums were overlooked by Eazy E's death, Dr. Dre becoming one of the best hip hop producers ever, and Ice Cube's golden touch. But if you were paying attention to that group, then you knew Ren had what it took to make a big splash. He did just that in '92. Don't sleep on this, Ren doesn't make bad albums. Check this one out if you're into old school gangsta rap.

Standout Tracks: Final Frontier, Intro [Check It Out Y'all], Behind The Scenes, & Right Up My Alley

4.0 out of 5 stars NWA alumnus Goes Hard on Solo Debut, May 15, 2011
By
Hype Currie "scholar of pop culture" (Detroit, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kizz My Black Azz (Audio CD)
"Kizz My Black Azz" is the first solo EP from former N.W.A. member MC Ren. Quiet as it's kept, Compton, California native Lorenzo "MC Ren" Patterson allegedly signed on to Eazy-E's Ruthless Records as a teenager with the intent of being a solo artist. So the story goes, a fateful opportunity presented itself when N.W.A. founding member Ice Cube took a leave of absence from the group to attend an architectural-drafting vocational college in Arizona. Eazy allegedly asked Ren to contribute to ghostwriting raps for Eazy and making guest-appearances on recordings like "Ruthless Villain". By the time tech-school grad Ice Cube came back into the fold, Ren was a full-fledged member of the group.

While N.W.A. as a group managed to change hip-hop and pop-culture forever with their groundbreaking and controversial music, unfortunately, Ren's solo debut was clouded in the aftermath of the group's disintegration in the early 1990s. By the time of this release, Ice Cube had quit the group and had released two solo albums, and Dr. Dre (along with associate D.O.C.) had recently defected from Ruthless to form what would eventually become Death Row Records. Within N.W.A., Ren had done solo-style cuts before ("If it ain't Ruff") but this is effort is clearly driven by Ren's direction.

"Kizz My Black Azz" finds Ren treading familiar territory, telling tales of wayward young women ("Behind the Scenez"), reckless gangbangers ("The Valley"), post-fame hangers-on ("Hound Dogz") and bitter rivals (on the title cut).

The production on this release is exclusively handled by DJ Bobcat (see also- Ice Cube, LL Cool J, Tupac), who proves himself to be just as capable as his contemporary Dr. Dre in crafting head-nodding, sample-heavy breakbeats which alternate between uptempo and pre-Chronic G-funk.
The best song on the six-cut effort is the battle-anthem "Final Frontier"--no Star Trek references, but Boogie Down Productions' "The Bridge is Over" is given a West Coast-revamp.

In retrospect, there are some criticisms to bear here- Ren continues the unabashed sexism of N.W.A. here, and, viewed at face value, "Behind the Scenez" crosses into gratuitous territory (the narrative climaxes with incest and group sex). Also the title cut finds Ren bashing rap acts that involve live musicians in their performance lineup; it proved to be kind of nearsighted in light of the rise of acts like the Roots, Black Eyed Peas, Lauryn Hill and others. Ren gets props for being honest in his opinions, but some of them were clearly off-base.

Ren's future solo albums would prove to be somewhat uneven production-wise, so this is arguably his most sonically consistent release. For fans of Golden-Age West Coast rap, this is a worthy buy, but for the uninitiated, N.W.A. and Ice Cube's first LPs should come first.

*Note: The 2003 re-release features the music video to "Final Frontier".

2.0 out of 5 stars OFFICAL AMAZON HIPHOP REVIEWER, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Kizz My Black Azz (Audio CD)
Hello

Thank you for taking the time to read through the reviews poeple have left about M.C Ren, Kizz my black azz.

I always find it important to get other people who either own or have listen to the album your looking into buying but people do have diffrent taste in music and something somebody likes you may not, so instead of just saying " this cd is great i loved it everyone will love this cd " i try give a more detailed description on the album and which type of hiphop fan's will like this album.

M.C Ren was a rapper from compton and along with other rappers from compton joined with eazy e's group N.W.A, in 1988, Ren was first heard on the album N.W.A STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON.

His first solo album came out in 1992 which is the album you are looking into buying KIZZ MY BLACK AZZ

nothing much has changed in Ren voice since N.W.A the same style of dark, gritty lyrics and voice.
this album was brought out on Ruthless records which was eazy e's record lable so not much has changed in the production side of the album and you can bee expecting the same quality of beats as where heard in N.W.A

This was not the first M.C ren album i bought and i am sorry to say that i am glad because i would of probably not bought any more after hearing this album.

I am i huge fan of M.C Ren and do own all his albums including this one which i am sorry to say is by far his worst.
i have heard worst album in my time but i do expect a lot from Ren and i felt this album didn't deliver.

The album is a short album and is classed as EP due to it only having 6 songs which does not make the album a bad one, bone thugs first album on ruthless was only short " CREEPING ON A COME UP " but yet is one of the best albums i own.

the way the beats are put togher make's this album M.C Rens worst
i feel the best beat on the album is the intro, which only lasts a few seconds after that it went down hill for me,

final frontier is a good song but only leavin 5 songs left on the album which all 4 are not much good and do not seem to catch my attention.

i would say if you are looking into a first time M.C Ren album to go for either Ruthless for life or The villian in black or Shock of the hour.all three albums are Ren at his finist and show listeners What Ren realy is about

I hope my review was helpfull and i am aware that this review may not be liked by many M.C ren fan's but please do realise that i am i ren fan and love his work and see him as a pioneer of hiphop and i am giving my oppinion on the album. please only vote yes/no if you realy did think the revie was helpfull or not.
thank you and good luck.
