After 1 year of use, the paint is peeling badly
on November 20, 2013
My husband and I each have an insulated bottle--mine is purple, his is blue. The paint is chipping off both badly, and it is embarrassing to bring to work (it looks pretty bad--bubbly and peeling). For such an expensive product and a supposedly sustainable company, I would expect a better product. The manufacturer said it is normal wear and tear and they will not replace the product--you have been warned.
UPDATE (as of January 2014) - after a couple more emails with photos to the manufacturer, they agreed to replace my peeling Kanteen with a Stainless Kanteen, so I'm now a happy customer again. I do think these are durable, non-toxic Kanteens, but personally, I'll avoid the painted Kanteens, just in case, and stick to Stainless whenever possible. If you have a painted Kanteen, they recommend hand washing it. Also, it will dent if you drop it. As for leaking, I do use the cafe cap which is not meant to be leak-proof--yes, it leaks, but you have to compare the cafe cap to a cup you'd get at a coffee-shop--it's not meant to to be leak proof. My husband prefers the Loop Cap which has not leaked.
