So I tend to be very picky with the things that I buy. I don't have much junk in my life, so the things that I do have must have a purpose and they must serve it well. This bottle fits the bill. First, it's sturdy, really sturdy. Because it's stainless and double-walled, it's very strong. Second, the bottle is insulated, which works really well. I really only put water in this, but when I put really cold drinks in here the bottle never sweats, which is a huge plus. Also many of the other insulated bottles out there have weird, contoured bodies. This is just a cylinder. I have yet to find a cup holder that it does not fit in. I have never had any weird tastes from the bottle (this would likely be indicative of an issue with the water put into it anyway), it's never leaked on me, never sweats, nothing. I carry it with me everywhere I go so it's used every day. I absolutely love it, and my "bottle hunt," if you will, is over. 5-stars for a great product.

Love my Klean Kanteen. I bring iced lattes to work every morning and there's still ice by the end of day (12+ hours later). There have been a few occasions I forgot to take it out of my bag and found ice from the previous morning!

Hot liquids don't stay hot as long as cold liquids stay cold, but it's still more than enough time (I've burned myself before).

My only issues are with the cap. On multiple occasions bits of plastic shredded off and ended up in my drink and/or mouth. Cleaning is also an issue as the rubber seal lifts and allows whatever liquid to seep underneath and get stuck. Probably not too big of a deal if you only use it for water, but as I use it for coffee/lattes, it takes quite the effort to keep it clean and odor-free.

Edit: I've since fallen in love with the Hydro Flask. Doesn't have the issue with liquids getting stuck under the seal and the bottle has better grip with the matte finish. Insulation is about the same, if not better on the Hydro Flask.

I love the Klean Kanteen brand. I have another one of these that isn't insulated, and I definitely prefer this one because of the option of using it for hot or cold beverages. I specifically bought this for bringing water to work because I don't trust the water fountain/faucets in my office building and I resent having to buy bottled water. Not only is this great for cold drinks because it keeps the beverage cold, but I also don't have to worry about the outside of the bottle sweating all over my desk. Every morning, I fill it up at home and throw it in a bag, and I haven't had any issues with leaks etc, though I would never put it in my actual purse (because I don't trust any container enough to risk ruining my purse). I plan on buying this in another color, as well, so I can alternate without having to wash one everyday.

The only problem that I've had is that the bottle can cause water to start tasting metallic after a few hours. However, I did not take a star off for this because I have NEVER found a bottle that doesn't make water taste like either water or plastic. Lately, I've been adding juice from half of a lemon to my water, and when I do this, I don't taste the metal at all.

Since writing my review about a week ago, I no longer detect the metallic taste when drinking plain water that's been stored in the bottle for several hours. Not sure how this issue resolved itself, but maybe it just goes away after enough washings. So now this bottle really is perfect.

I bought this almost a year ago, and tried to ignore the huge defect, but I've had it. The bottle keeps cold water cold which is great, BUT I expect more from a bottle "Equipped with a leakproof Stainless Loop Cap" claiming that I can throw it in my bag "without a second thought." Not so. Within seconds of being on its side, it leaks. It soaks everything in its path if it's not kept upright at all times. Pretty disappointing considering how expensive it was.

The new matte finishes are gorgeous. The insulation is as good as you'd need it to be. Hot for the whole day, cold by the next morning. A little too good for hot beverages. Kind of makes the whole awkward drinking out of thermos cap thing make sense, but whatever. I want to have my cake and eat it too. The finishes on these Klean Kanteens do get scratches in them, with normal use (shoving them in your satchel and rolling onto the car floor, etc). So, if you are allergic to scratches, get the plain stainless steel one. I still think the colors are worth putting up with scratches for. I have one that's several years old and it has a few scratches but it's not like it looks destroyed, like some enamel jobs get.

As another reviewer advised, I bought the Hydro Flask flip lid instead of the Klean Kanteen one, because it is indeed leak proof. It screws onto the Klean Kanteen mug just fine. It doesn't screw on exactly as smoothly as the Klean Kanteen ones, so you can tell it's a different manufacturer, but it's not like it's hard to screw on, and once it's on it looks the same, and the seal is perfect. I thought about getting a Hydro Flask insulated mug as my second one, but I just can't stomach that ugly logo. I'm superficial like that.

I actually have not had the same problem with the seals getting gross or moldy, even though I put smoothies in mine somewhat regularly, and sometimes don't clean it right away. I definitely had that problem with the old SIGG bottles, so I know what people are talking about. The seal on the Hydro Flask lid comes right off, so you can clean it well. The Klean Kanteen one doesn't come off but mine haven't gotten anything under them. They should sell little baggies of those seals. That would be awesome. But I guess a $5 replacement lid if you run into that problem after 5 years isn't going to kill you.

The bottle itself is quite nice, good looking and keeps drinks cold for ages. On the negative, the cap drips if the bottle is not kept vertical. Tried contacting kleen kanteen for a replacement cap but they pawned my complaint off to a local distributor who didn't take any action and kleen kanteen didn't answer my emails to them. Terrible customer service.

This is our third Klean Kanteen that we own. My husband bought me one at a coffee shop (with its logo plus Klean Kanteen) and I have used it almost every day for a year. When Christmas rolled around, I decided to get my husband one - I bought him the 20 oz. in black plus the Cafe Cap. My original is the 16 oz. and held lots of coffee that stayed hot for hours. My hubby's stays super hot in the 20 oz. and I'm enjoying my new pink one with piping hot coffee. I will use the tall one for water in the summer and my original for coffee. I plan on getting my kids one in their own colors (love the variety of color choices). I highly recommend Klean Kanteen - I call it leak-resistant, not leak-proof :-) If you are careful, it's not an issue! My husband likes that he can take coffee on his commute with the loop top (leakproof).

I've had this for a few weeks now. When I got it I really liked the look, and it seemed like a solid product. Two things wrong with this: 1) The lid retains smells, so if you put anything other than water in this, expect a residue smell indefinitely. I have two of these. One I had dedicated for coffee only, and the other for water. I had to use the water container for coffee one time, and now that smell won't go away. I went to the manufacturer's website and did what they recommended, which is to soak the lid overnight in diluted vinegar. Didn't work.
2) Leaks! When I tightened this normally, it leaked all over the place. I had to put some muscle behind tightening the lid in order to make sure it didn't leak.

The vacuum insulation works great, my coffee stays piping hot for hours and hours.

The only problem is: it's nearly impossible to clean. The edges are rounded inside to make it easier, but it's so narrow at the top I can't get a sponge to even reach halfway down inside.

When filled with hot water, the plastic cap feels quite warm from the outside. This can only mean that heat is escaping through the cap. Indeed, I compared this with a 21oz HydroFlask, filling both full with hot water over night, and by the morning the water in Klean Kanteen is only lukewarm if even that, but the water in the HydroFlask is still a bit hot. HydroFlask has an exposed band of steel at the neck which also feels warm when the inside is filled with hot water, but clearly the heat escaping from that is much less than the heat escaping from Klean Kanteen's cap. The loop on the cap is quite wide on the sides, making it a bit less comfortable to use a finger on than the HydroFlask. So overall I must say I'm disappointed with this purchase. Should've just bought another HydroFlask.
