As a long time user of the straight, yellow handled Klein strippers I was slow to change for a few dollars more. But, I'm glad I did. If you factor in how long these will potentially last if treated properly, and the $15 price tag it actually feels like...wait for it...Klein might be undercharging.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
- THE CURVED HANDLE might not look like much, but having used the straight for so long I can report that the extra leverage and ergonomic feel makes a world of difference. Especially on days of heavy use.
- THE HOLES ON THE SIDE for bending solid wire, handy during outlet/switch installation.
- THE SPRING BETWEEN THE HANDLE stays on very well, even when stored loosely in the bottom of an overloaded tool bag.
- THE HANDLES ARE TOUGH, and haven't slipped off after over a year of daily use.
- THE SCREW CUTTERS are a nice bonus. They cover the two sizes you will most commonly find when installing outlets into wall boxes. It is fairly common to need to trim them down for one reason or another.

SOME TIPS ON USAGE:
- Never cut anything other than copper wire with these. Steel wire, even very thin, will nick the cutting blade and create a bump that you will feel everytime you use them.
- People who don't like this type of stripper typically make the same common mistake when using them. Holding the wire with their left hand, and attempting to rip the insulation off with only their right. I recommend holding the wire with your left hand, then clamp the tool down on the wire with your right. BUT, use your left thumb (while still gripping the wire with other fingers) to push the tool off of the wire in a straight motion with minimal effort. Reverse for lefties, obviously. Get this down and you will enjoy using these strippers much more, and your stranded wire will not be damaged by pulling the tool off of the wire, under too much force, at an angle.

These stripper cutters were purchased from Amazon as a gift for me. They're primarily for stripping small wire sizes -- gauges 20-32, solid and stranded. They're similar in design to Klein's model 1412 Klein Tools 1412 Dual Non-Metal Cable Stripper and 12 to 14 Gauge Solid Wire Cutter. They're very well made, and I'm happy to support a made-in-the-USA manufacturer. Handles are quite comfortable. Initially I thought the asymmetric shape favored right-handers, but it turns out to be equally comfortable for lefties too. Labeling is just okay (I dislike having to say this, because Klein clearly tried -- they just didn't pull it off). Let me explain: labels are silk-screened on the face side in a nice, high-contrast color, but will chip over time; on the back side, labels are stamped but not painted -- they'll last forever but are difficult to read. One permanent set of readable labels created by stamping/painting-the-imprint on the same side would be better than the two sets now. The strippers themselves are excellent -- sharp, and properly sized to cut insulation without nicking the underlying copper. The cutting portion of the blade is generous, and equally sharp. There's no play between the cutter halves, and the locking assembly can be adjusted with two hex wrenches (thank you, Klein). The locking tab is well designed and works single-handedly (thumb/index finger for right/left handers respectively) My biggest complaint is the plier-tip of the tool: its cross-cut ribbing is far too coarse for the wire sizes this tool is designed for, plus the ribbing is sharply ground, tending to tear outer insulation. It's about right for 12-14 gauge wire but unusable for 20-32 gauge.Read more ›

These strippers are sharp, comfortable, and precise. I replaced a set of GB strippers with these and have been extremely satisfied. Small gage capability is especially helpful for me and it's hard to find strippers that go down to 32AWG.

I have purchased two pairs of these and alas need to buy a third. I tend to loose them, although they are one of my most treasured tools. I work in audio video and with cat5 being a huge part of the industry, these guys are invaluable!

I also use and love:Klein 11055 Klein-Kurve Wire Stripper/Cutter, Blue but somehow never loose these.

You can't go wrong with a Klein tool!

I purchased these strippers because of all of the good press I had seen for this product. When I went to use them I was immediately disappointed. The blades of the stripper were not parallel so there was a gap in the blades starting back at the cutter and increasing all the way out to the end (~1/32" gap at end). I had also purchased a pair of the Klein 10-20 AWG strippers that did the same thing. The gap causes poor stripping performance (especially for the smaller wires at the end of the strippers) as well as makes it difficult/impossible to cleanly shear all of the strands of the finer AWG wires with the cutter. I thought that I had just gotten a bad set but the pairs I bought for a coworker did the same thing. I also went to a local store and saw the ones on the shelves had the same issue. My nearly identical Craftsman Pro's had nice parallel blades with a near zero gap. I don't understand how something so fundamental to the performance of the tool can be overlooked.
