I bought this item originally back in 1996 when I was a Telephone and Video technician and have been using since still using for 90%+ of my wiring needs.

When I originally bought the tool I used it for cutting 50 pair cables on down without issue. After I stopped being a tech I continued to use the tool from everything from a wire stripper, wire and rope cutter, pliers (it has a plier head), to even cutting machinist wire, nails, and smaller bolts with it.

After over 11 years of use (6 of which heavy) the spring still has tension and I can still strip wires from 20 to 10 gauge effectively as well as be used with practice to strip coax efficiently. I sort of did in the cutting mechanism so it is not as sharp by cutting bolts and nails with it.. but I can still cut most cables with little effort.

Don't take me wrong, I was skeptical not because of the quality of the tool but rather the popularity contest between this tool and the other one..which I forget its name now but I know I had a debate whether or not to spend a few bucks more on this than with the other popular brand, but hey, that was until I realized these were made in the U.S.A by Klein so the moment I realized this there was no contest (like I once told a judge for a traffic citation) so I stuck with these, I received them, put them to test, they felt just good and right in my hand, they're thin and light and have a nice smooth feeling when stripping cables/wires, they truly do a marvelous job at it.

I wasn't too happy with the 'Stock' photo Amazon had here, so I uploaded my own to give you an idea of what their real size is like, make sure you check them out, this is really a nice tool to have and you won't regret it once you purchase it.

Overall, I would recommend this tool to friends with an A+!.

P.S Always buy products sold or fulfilled by 'Amazon' you just can't go wrong with the returns if anything ever goes south.

I have to say first that I don't know a ton about this kind of stuff.

I recently bought some Polk speakers. I normally just buy the complete system that comes with everything I needed. The Polk speakers to my suprise didn't come with wires, so I had to buy a spool, and obviously needed something to cut it with.

These wire cutters slice through the wire easily. It also has a good spot to remove the coating off the wire. I got 14 gauge wire and these wire cutters work perfectly.

I needed a pair of wire strippers, so I asked my Uncle who has been in the electronics industry for 50 years. He recommended these and Klein in general, and all I can say is wow. Tools aren't made like this anymore. Very sharp, solid, and well made. 10 to 20 gauge, great for most projects, especially at home. Stay away from the auto-strippers, nothing like these....It also has a wire cutter, and a plier tip/head, wonderful little tool.

For the price it's OK. That being said, you can buy it cheaper at Home Depot. I come to Amazon for good pricing, along with product selection and reviews. I think that Klein has better, more ergonomic strippers that are a better value. I agree with other reviewers that the lack of a locking lever is a "con". Take a look at the 11055 (for stranded or solid) or the 11045 for solid wire. Or for something better, look at what Knipex has to offer - Definately more pricey, but much higher quality.

Ill give these 5 stars because I strip wire for a living and they have held up well and still cut sharply. Just bought another pair just incase. I prefer these strippers because they are small and comfortable. No complaints. Great tool. Great brand.

This stripper doesn't cry or have daddy issues! Very precise blade grind, cuts and strips insulation perfectly. Don't waste money on a cheap wire stripper. Your pocket knife works better. Get a Klein every time.
