I was just reading the opinions of others, and alot of people are complaining about how it beeps no matter what. But being an electrian i've used this and one thing people need to realize is all of these detectors beep when you bump them of rub them against your hair of skin. They work by reading the magnetic force coming off the conductor. what you do, so they are extremely sensitive.
Just make sure you test it on a known voltage and then hold it on the conductor that you want to test. As long as you don't bump it all over the conductor it will work. This meter works well and i'd buy it again. The only problem would be that the nose of this tester breaks off if you don't take care of it. Thanks

I've been doing Electrical work now for 26 years , and Klien has for the most part been my Choice for hand tools.... This tool however is the worst product in my opinion... I've gone through 6 of them already over the past 2 1/2 years , each time getting it replaced at Home Depot where I originally bought it... do not waste your money on this particular Klien tool ... like others have noted , it just stops working for no reason at all,,, and I am one who takes care of his tools... If you have to have a non contact tester,,stick with Fluke...
I'm Even sorry I had to give 1 star ... 0 is more deserving.... C'mon Klien ..

As an electrical contractor I can say Do Not waste your money. I didn't learn my lesson the first time. The second one
had the same symptoms. Works great for a while then gives out. I've tried different types of batteries and it takes
forever to turn ON and then won't turn off. My life depends on it to work.

Bought this at Home Depot. Beeps whenever you touch anything.
IE, your skin, countertop, shoe, etc. Not worth even trying.
It's cheaply made with inferior parts. Waste of time and money.

This tester is not worth the price I paid for it. After a few months of use, the push button to turn on the tester gets stuck and the tester would be beeping in my pocket. When I turn it on, I have to struggle to turn it off. The on/off button is poorly designed that I retired it. My first one was Greenlee it is still going strong and I will buy a second one.

Klein has a good reputation among my contractor buddies so when I chose this tester over other brands, I felt good that it would serve me for a long time.

Nope.

I got to use it less than a dozen times and it failed me out in the field when I needed it most. Just quit. I tried new batteries, lengthening the battery spring to gain firmer contact, all to no avail.

Klein, are you reading these reviews? You should and tell your Chinese suppler to step up the quality control before you lose me as a longtime fan of your tools.

My sister introduced me to this device when I was helping her replace several light fixtures and ceiling fans a rental house she owns. It was a handy warning device which sounded off whenever it touched a hot wire or circuit. Of course, I bought one for myself. I find it quite reliable and consistent.
