I ordered the 24,000 btu split ductless with inverter... Check the box carefully, because my unit came in mis-boxed and I had to send it back... Klimaire customer service was pretty good about calling me back and did the swap but I did have to wait for them to receive the mis-boxed indoor unit and inspect it before they sent a new one (took about 3 weeks)... After that, on to the install; I am a do it yourselfer, and was able to do the install myself (although the instructions could be written better), took me around 30 hours, a lot of that was checking and double checking, once you charge the system it is to late to make any changes... The only problem I had with the install was forming the huge copper gas line, it does not like to bend without kinking, be careful and invest in a tube bender..The install came out looking good.. Now for performance, its been running a few weeks now and it is wonderful... This thing really "puts out", I installed it in a 2000sq ft house and it will run you out with heat or cool... The gas unit I was using took at least an hour to get the place cool or warm.. The Klimaire unit takes 10 to 15 minutes at 90 degreees and then it shuts down to low speed... I think I may have purchased to large a unit but at least it wont have to struggle... Runs quiet inside and out, This thing is computerized and could come with a little more detailed instructions, besides that I can't say enough good about how well it performs... My unit is 16 seer, and I have not received an elctric bill yet, but it has to be cheaper than gas... TY

Took me a whole day to install this unit. It came with everything that I needed to mount it up and get it to operate. However, I had to run the 220v through the basement, which I knew ahead of time since they tell you that it's a 220v AC. This air conditioner is so powerful that we had to turn it off after a couple of hours. I bought it for our living room/dining room area (approximately 1000 sq. feet), but it cooled down the whole house almost. The kitchen was freezing cold, and the whole downstairs felt chilly. It would be nice if it had a climate control thermostat to shut off when the room temperature reaches the desired setting. I've only had it for a few days, so I can't say much about electricity usage. I will come back with an update when I receive my electric bill.
Bottom line: it was easy to install, very powerful, very quiet, and it has made our house a likeable place in hot summer days.

I am soooo happy with my purchase. The system is very quiet and is able to keep 2 top floors (3 bedrooms, bathroom, and a loft) very cool. We are using a blanket at night, and it is 90 degrees outside!
We were quoted almost 4K to install a system to cool the third and fourth (loft near the roof) of a pretty large house. The main system was not doing a good job of cooling higher floors in the hot months. After considering the options and reading helpful reviews on Klimaire, we decided to go with this little-known brand. It was very scary, but the product works like a charm. We did have to buy a tube flaring tool (as suggested by one of the reviewers) and freon tubes as the ones that came with the system were too short and too flimsy ($200). My husband, who is pretty handy, was able to install the system with few issues. I imagine someone less construction-savvy would need extra time, but it is definitely doable. We called an A/C guy to vacuum out the pipes and to put more freon (the system comes pre-loaded for a 25ft run, but for a longer run, you need to add more freon). This was also around $200. To sum up, we paid $1,700 (system, delivery, extra tubes, extra freon) for an awesome system. $1,700 is WAAAAAAAAAAYYY better than $4,000.

Appears to be a very nice unit so far, although we have not completely installed it yet, my husband said it is good quality. Only thing lacking is more detailed instructions on how to install. Lucky for us my husband's friend has experience in this, but more instructions would be nice. Happy with how quickly the product came.

I ordered the Klimaire 24000. I installed the unit (instructions are terrible) and after some difficulty (problems with the power cables and the copper tubes bend like cardboard), it finally turned on and the fan began running, and air was coming out, and the thermostat was set to 76, so I let it run for an hour, but the air is still not blowing cold...I contacted the manufacture for help. But no response from them yet. It came with an "installation kit" - but my neighbor told me that the "installation kit" (just some wires and copper tube) doesn't have everything I need to install it. So I guess I need some other equipment to install this thing: vacuum pump, freon, evacuation equipment, etc... to get this thing working. I'm going to hire a professional A/C guy tomorrow but my neighbor said it would have been much cheaper to just have the A/C guy come and install his own unit. edit: AC guy installed it in about 2 hours, cost me $950 for installation. Runs great now, but not a DIY job IMO. |
