5.0 out of 5 stars More impressed than expected even! Awesome sound!
I picked this speaker combo up with the Harmon Kardon AVR-1600 that Amazon was running a deal on. I must say I've always wanted Klipsch floorstanding speakers, but cost (at this point in my life...post college age) has prohibited me from purchasing. When I saw this deal on Klipsch speakers I jumped to the opportunity. I took two days to run all of the speaker wires...

I took two days to run all of the speaker wires through the walls of my house (living room) and mount the front three speakers on the front wall, and the back two speakers on the ceiling beside our couch. I used 16 guage wire from the local "BB" big box store. I ran my AVR-1600s "mic" to our listening position, ran the setup test, and threw in the movie Clash of the Titans on Blue Ray. I could tell I was outputting the audio in Dobly Prologic II and or Dobly DTS sound, via my receiver, and it sounded awesome! I watch movies through my PS3, to my receiver, and to my Sony KDLXBR5. I can't say enough about how good the sound with these speakers sounded to me. I realize that they're not the best you can buy by any means, but they sound very clear. The bass at first sounded a bit weak at times so I moved it farther to the right, within a foot of the 'right' wall and now it sounds great!
Also, I was a bit worried about the power of the speakers when I bought them because I have a "great room" style living room that opens up to my kitchen/dining room on the side, and a long entrance way to the back (no rear wall) so it's a rather large room! I can say that these Klipsch speakers fill my room with sound very easily for movies(tested w/ PS3 Clash of the Titans on BlueRay), tv (tested w/ HD antenna for over the air), video games (tested w/ Uncharted 2 for PS3), and music (tested w/ normal MP3 music via PS3). I would say it may not be ideal for listening strictly to music but it still sounds great for the average home user. Believe it or not even my wife says it sounds so much better, and sounds great!

Just for reference I'm not an audiophile but I do have a bachelors degree in MIS (Management Information Systems) and over four years IT work experience. I've also worked over 3 years in professional audio/video production.

The system is not my "dream system" by any means but I can't stress enough how good it sounds for the price. I'd have to have quite a bit of money before I will plan on replacing these speaker...no need!
Thanks Klipsch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, January 12, 2010

I picked these speakers up along with a new receiver. Right away I loved the home theater experience. The dialogue comes through crystal clear and the bass is nice and tight. On top of the movie experience, the real bright spot is the music experience. Pop a music DVD in and these speakers bring it to life. I can't say enough about how these speakers have improved my home theater experience!

I bought these to replace my old surround sound speakers. The sound is amazing, no problems with the sub-woofer either(as mentioned by a previous reviewer.) For the price I paid,(purchased a couple of days after Christmas on Amazon)and the quality sound these small speakers put out, I couldn't be happier. The set up was easy, I like the speaker wall mounts, you can adjust them sideways, but not up and down. After I installed them, all I had to do was tweak them some with the settings on my surround sound receiver. Also, I accidently dropped one of the speakers pretty hard as I was setting it up, and it still works. So that shows me they are made to last. Do yourself a favor, if you don't have surround sound, give these speakers a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I bought this set after moving in with my girlfriend and her deciding my big sony floor speakers were too big. I'm running them on an older techniqs 5.1 ch 500 watt receiver. I daisy-chained the sub to my existing sony 12 inch 120 watt sub and turned the cutoff frequency up and the level to about half, sounds pretty good. I would not reccomend this product as a stand-alone home theater system to anyone who expects butt-thumping bass. If you already have a good sub, this ststem is fine, the mids and highs are crystal-clear, the speakers look nice and they are very small for the amount of sound they produce.

I've been using these speakers for about 2 months now with an Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2 receiver. The speakers sound incredible! I've got them wall mounted, and they are very small and unobtrusive. They've handled everything that I have thrown at them, from U2 CDs to Blu-ray movies to streaming music on Pandora. I'm thinking about picking up two more of the satellites to use for a Zone 2, since my receiver can handle that! I would definitely buy them again if I had to rebuild my home theater setup. Also, many electronics store (including Best Buy) carry these speakers, so you can listen to them before you buy them!

5.0 out of 5 stars big bang for the buck, December 23, 2010

Ordered on monday and got it on thursday, the package looked scary though. Its in the original manufacturer box, and these guys just put a FedEx sticker on top of it. They charged an arm for shipping itself, so expected some decent shipping. From outside I felt as if the item was used for a long time and returned, was damaged at certain places. But nothing like that inside, it looked very neat and clean.

Was very impressed with the quality and the cuteness of the speakers. Mine is a living room, I don't want the things to look big and cluttered. These speakers does exactly that, its kind of camouflaged in front of the black TV. I don't even notice that its there.

One irritating part is - there are no cables of any kind. So be ready to purchase the speaker cables for all the 5 speakers. The subwoofer has 2 RCA inputs. So from my Yamaha 5063 receiver, I need a splitter cable like "1 RCA male to 2 RCA male". I didn't know about this part earlier, so right now I connected just a regular RCA audio cable.

I haven't connected surround speakers yet, just the front 3 speakers and subwoofer. Oh boy, the whole living room rocks and its just 50% subwoofer, and I had to reduce that to 30%. And when comes to voice its so crystal clear. I never miss any dialogues from the movies.

Pros:
1) very clear voice
2) can be as loud as you want
3) subwoofer rocks
4) small and cute

Cons:
1) manual is junk, subwoofer has few more controls, and at this point I don't even know what its for
2) no cables

5.0 out of 5 stars HTIB a pleasant surprise, April 2, 2011

This review is from: Klipsch HD 300 Compact 5.1 High Definition Theater System (Set of Six, Black) (Electronics)
I recently purchased the Klipsch HD300 for a surround system for TV and music. As a long time devotee of big tower speakers, I was really shocked at the sound quality these speaker put out. While they may not work well in a large room, I have these in a small room of 15x15 ft. and they really put out a high quality sound. The sub thumps big time and compliments the other speakers well. If you are trying to blow down walls, than these speakers are not for you. But if you want a great sounding system especially with music and T.V., and at a great price, these speakers are for you. I auditioned the Polks, and the Energy systems. These beat them overall.

I got these speakers for Christmas and have been completely satisfied with them. They produce a great sound when hooked up to my Sony STR-DH800 7.1-Channel Audio Video Receiver. I would recommend these to anyone looking to get good sound for a great price.

Excellent little 5.1 system for the bedroom or smaller area. The 6.5" woofer wont work well in big living rooms but what woofer will at this size. The sats do a great job and mounts are included. Nice job Klipsch!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound For The Price!, September 15, 2011

This review is from: Klipsch HD 300 Compact 5.1 High Definition Theater System (Set of Six, Black) (Electronics)
The Klipsch HD 300 is a great entry level 5.1 sound system. I was surprised at how much sound comes out of these speakers. To be fair I can't really rate the true potential of this system because I'm only using the center and surround speakers along with the sub. The speakers reproduce great accurate sound and are the closest that I have came to having a system that is comparable to my car systems. The sub is ok to good but not great. I read reviews that said it was terrible and I think that is too harsh of a rating. The sub does create deep to punchy bass that is accurate in certain ranges, but if it is told to reproduce a sound not in that range it sounds like it is bottoming out. I found that messing with the gain can help to reduce that, but it was distorting even at factory settings so I was unimpressed. For movies it can be hit and miss as well. For the opening of Iron Man 2 when there are explosions going off around Iron Man the sub was distorting, yet when there were other explosions later in the movie it did well with the sound reproduction. Overall I would buy the system again. The sound from the speakers is great and the sub does an ok job. For the $170 I spent I feel like I got a great value.
