Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Summary: Effective noise reduction. Good music reproduction.

My guesstimate is that half the ambient noise is blocked by these plugs. Better than I had expected and pretty good for plain 'ol plugs! It takes a few trials to get used to twisting them into place. Once inserted properly, you hardly feel them.

The music reproduction is at least ok. Probably better than ok but my hearing isn't the best so I can't review this like an audiophile. But it sounds good to me.

I noticed the claimed frequency response is 12hz to 18khz. 12hz! That's amazingly low. I tested it with the 1812 overture (cannons!). First with some decent headphones - Panasonic RP-HS27s. In the ear models but not plugs. I've had these for years and they're solid performers. The cannons from 1812 sounded like weak firecrackers. You could hear them but it was just another sound. Then I tried the Klipschs. Oooh! A little bit of BOOM-BOOM in my head! Nothing like listening to 1812 with a decent sub-woofer but a lot more than I expected from these tiny little plugs. (The non-cannon music sounded the same on both the Panasonics and the Klipschs). EXCELLENT bass reproduction.

Sensitivity is 1mw/106db so they can output a lot of sound on weak inputs.

The plugs come with a nifty carrying case and TWO sets of replacement ear tips.

It's claimed the cables are tangle resistant and durable. Yup to the anti-tangle. Can't vouch for the durability - haven't had these long enough.

My original review:

"I just purchased these and I am pretty disappointed. The whole "no bass response" thing is 100% true (no matter which silicon fitting you apply - speaking of silicon fitting, these things do not fit very well). The mids and highs sound fairly good, but with no bass response, it sounds like I'm listening to music on a cell phone speaker.

Disappointed."

My updated review:

You MUST put these into your ears properly. I'm not an idiot when it comes to this kind of stuff, after messing around for a good 20 minutes I finally figured out how these are supposed to fit into your ears. Once I did, I got decent bass response and they stopped falling out.

Good sound, pain in the ass to figure out initially. Be patient and they'll work, eventually.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I don't know why, but in my household we seem to collect earphones. Everyone has an ipod and we use different earphones for different needs. I must have 10 different ones lying around.
This one is the first noise cancelling one I've used, and it's really very effective. Almost too effective if you are not used to it. I couldn't hear any of the comments on the subway and felt odd drifting through the busy streets, my head full of music but cut off from everyone else. I did worry that I would miss a warning car horn or shout, but when i used it on the plane, it was excellent! I often find it hard to watch movies on planes because of the sound quality, but this time I heard everything perfectly. When I went for a walk late at night, I only used one ear, because I wanted to hear the street sounds for safety - so it really depends where and when you use them, but they are omfortable, noise cancelling and give really good quality sound, so it's a winner here.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I've tried about half a dozen ear phones during my workouts, from ear buds to over the head, to behind the neck. I've finally found a keeper. I was amazed at how comfortable they are, and how tightly they fit. Granted, I'm at the gym, not cross-country running, but they stay in great. And the noise cancellation is wonderful. My music is no longer barely edging out the club's music. I love being able to go through a whole hour plus workout without having to adjust the ear buds even once. I also like the little travel pouch that comes with them. No more spending a couple minutes untangling the cords. I'm not an audiophile by any means, so can't comment with any authority on the sound, but it was great for my purposes.

These headphones are perfect for so many reasons:

* the earpieces they come with are the perfect size for my ears; a happy change from others I've tried (EarCandy, Sony)
* they're angled so there's no undue pressure in my ears. I can wear these for hours!
* they sound really good, especially for the price
* they come with a great little carrying case which includes a couple different sized earpieces, in case the ones they ship with are not comfy for you

Can you find better headphones? Probably, and pay a bunch more for them. I haven't really found anything to not like about these.

I bought my first set of S3's a few months ago and they recently broke. I really liked them so I just bought another pair for my new iPhone 5 and luckily I decided to test them against the new Apple Earpods (which I almost threw away thinking the were cheap like the older version).
I do like the fact that the S3's fit flush in the ear and block outside noise, but besides that they just sound terrible compared to the Earpods. I never realized how weak the bass was until now. The Earpods have such a full and clear sound that the S3's can't even come close to.
You can buy the S3's for around $25 if you shop around...they should probably sell for around $15 to be honest.
