Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Klipsch Image S4A (II) Black In-Ear Headphones

Engineered for Android™ smartphones, the Klipsch® Image® S4A® headphones let you experience the arena anywhere. Backed by six decades of audio excellence, the S4A headphones let you control both your playlist and your phone calls with a single-button remote + mic and powerful customization via the Klipsch Control app for Android. And with the patented Klipsch oval tips, you can enjoy your favorite artists in incredible comfort.

Experience What Legends are Made of
In 1946, Paul W. Klipsch engineered a way to harness the live music experience in his speakers. No we’re giving you complete control of it with the S4A. Offering the same award-winning acoustics as the original Image S4, the Android-specific Image S4A is equipped with a dual magnet 8.5mm driver that allows it to cover a wide frequency range, delivering dynamic detail for the most strikingly realistic sound reproductions of beloved music libraries.

Concert in your Cranium
Just like all Klipsch in-ear headphone products, this for-Android headphone features patented oval ear tips that ensure hours of comfortable, long-term wear. Unlike circular-shaped ear tips that put stress on the pressure points inside the ear, Klipsch’s patented oval ear tips naturally fit the contours of your ear canals, providing comfortable long-term wear. These ear tips also offer superior noise isolation (or passive noise-cancellation), blocking out almost all ambient noise and providing excellent bass.

Image S4A (II) Headphones

Listen Without Limits
The Image S4A requires download of the free Klipsch Control Android app for full functionality. Once installed, the headphone instantly becomes a fully functioning Android headset*. With its single-button remote, users are able to play, pause and skip music tracks, answer and end incoming calls, and voice search. Each of these button functions can be customized with the Klipsch Control Android app. By simply assigning the one-, two- or three-click functionalities of the remote to the different call and music controls, you are granted a customized listening experience each time you plug in. The microphone is a highly intelligible 360° design with echo cancellation, so you can make and receive phone calls with crystal-clear audio and won’t have to worry about all of the noise around you.

*Not fully compatible with every Android device. Please check Klipsch.com for more details.

Add a Soundtrack to Your Soul
The concert goes deep into the night with the Image S4A because Klipsch has gone that extra mile to ensure the durability of the S4A. With information gathered from customers and extensive real world testing, Klipsch has enhanced the durability of the S4A with added strength to critical points along the body, microphone, remote and cables, ensuring that, from top to bottom, you are receiving a product that can handle whatever is thrown at it.

The S4A’s flat, tangle-resistant cables allow you to never have to worry about untangling your headphones after you take them out of your pocket. You are free to play your music!

Armed with one of the best warranty programs in the industry, with a 2-year replacement policy on all headphone products as opposed to the 1-year offered by many competitors, you can take comfort that your Klipsch headphones will provide years of listening enjoyment.

Front Stage Pass
Available in a sleek black finish with chrome accents, the Image S4A comes complete with four different-sized oval ear tips, a carrying case, clothing clip and two-year warranty.

Secondly was the Android app didn't work from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2 (I think it's because i'm running 4.0) and the app isn't compatible.

I've owned a set of the original S4's since they came out and just as they were beginning to succumb to rough treatment over the years these came out.

Pros:
-Still great sound for ear buds: Nice crisp highs, warm middles, and balanced bass. They're not perfect but you can't expect theater-quality sound from ear buds, I think this is as good as it gets in the price range

-The flat cable is almost impossible to tangle and feels much more robust than the older design.

-The case is compact, flexible, and light, making it easily pocket-able. Much better than the tin that the original came in (in my opinion).

-Full set of sizes and styles of tips to customize your fit (I use the largest)

-The android button combined with the software works great on my GSII

Cons:
-There is some cable noise noticeable at low volume levels, but this is a worth-while trade off for a cord that doesn't tangle and is more robust

-I don't understand why they still make the android version with only one button when the iPhone version gets three. I know for a fact android supports more buttons, I don't understand this choice.

-Supposedly the software for the button customization doesn't work on the GSII, but it works fine on mine, although I am running a custom ROM so...

Overall: Great headphones for carrying around in your pocket. You won't find any better in this price range

***Update***

Just for those of you who are curious, the single button works by number of clicks similar to the old iPod shuffle (i.e. one click to play/pause, two to skip a track, three to go back a track, hold for volume, et cetera).

I decided on these pair of headphones after demo-ing about 20-30 earphones of various price ranges ($50-$300+) at a headphone store. I initially pencilled down UE brand and Grado but got overwhelmed in the store with too many brands and models to test. In the end I decided to just trust my ears. There was a Top 10 most popular IEMs list and the Klipsch ranked 8th and decided to audition a few of them on the list. Naturally the Klipsch image S4 came up tops in my test. It was better IMHO than the UE600 (too lean mids and highs), Bose IE2 (the fit wasn't as good, sound wasn't decernedly *sic* better), some $300+ Sony IEM together with a few others i didn't care to remember. Decided on the S4 and also plonk down extra for the S4A II for andriod phones.

Good
Sound quality wise the highs and mids are smooth, the bass packs a good punch but not over-bearing, good all rounder from Tong Li (audiophile favourite for female vocals) to Fast East Movement's Like a G6.
Fit wise it is ultra comfortable, Ive probably worn it for 5hrs on some days.
Flat cables are true to claims, they hardly tangle even when storing in the included soft pouch.

Bad
Flat cable a bit too rubberized that cling on for dear life on your clothes sometimes.
The Klipsch headphone control app for Andriod is rubbish, does not work on my samsung GSII.
* Decided to try the HeadsetButton Controller app on GoogleStore and now the single button works a charm, customizable settings for Next/Previous/Pause/Play/VolumeStepUp/VolumeStepDown etc, one happy camper now, rubbish Klipsch control app doesn't bother me.

Overall very very happy with these IEMs. Re-auditioned the ones I passed over while passing different headphone shops on different days, still have not heard anything better at the same price point (and some higher).

I am not sure about these headphones yet. I have had them for a couple weeks, and have some good and bad things to say about them.

Pros:
-They sound pretty good. Not a whole lot of bass like I was hoping for, but they aren't bad
-I have asked how my audio sounds while on a call, and people cant tell that I am using headphones (they assume that I am holding the phone)
-The case they come with is nice, but for the price, its something I would expect
-Im a tall dude, so having the extra long cable helps. It doesn't jerk the headphones out of my ears when it gets caught on something since they are longer
-My Bose headphone cable has gradually gotten really flimsy. I like the sturdy-ness of these headphones.

Cons:
-There is a ton of cable noise when using at low volume, or no volume. Some people mention there is some, but there really is a lot of cable nose.
-I am no expert on this, but the earbuds rip out of my ear occasionally. I am used to Bose MIE2's which never fall out, so this is a new thing to me.
-The control talk thing is WAY too big. I could understand if it had 3 buttons (which is what I thought it had....should have read more about it I guess) When I have worn these in public, I notice people looking at it. Kind of strange.
-The app (initially a huge selling point for me since I have an Android phone) is crap. Here is just one example. If you want to lower the volume, you have to long press the button, wait till it mutes (about 3 seconds), and then it gradually increases the volume, and release the button when the volume is good for you. This is annoying. I never use the app, which sucks, because there are a ton of earbuds that have a pause/play/action button that work the same (without the app) and cost more, and likely sound better.

Overall, I'm on the fence on whether I would suggest them. The audio is great, but there are some cons (noted above)
