5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful speakers
I don't feel like the only other review here does these speakers justice. I am in love with them. The bass can be controlled separately on the right speaker. I compared these to the Bose Companion 3 Series II multimedia speaker system (Graphite/Silver) and the Klipsch's bass BLEW THEM OUT OF THE WATER. 2.0 out of 5 stars Model has been cheapened
This was a great product a few years ago- although it took a little fiddling to get accurate sound (as opposed to just loud) from the powerful subwoofer. The new version has a much lighter "Digital" amplifier. Don't be fooled; this lighter amplifier does not produce enough power output to accurately control the subwoofer's movement. The result is flatulent, boomy...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful speakers, March 4, 2011
This review is from: Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 (Electronics)
I don't feel like the only other review here does these speakers justice. I am in love with them. The bass can be controlled separately on the right speaker. I compared these to the Bose Companion 3 Series II multimedia speaker system (Graphite/Silver) and the Klipsch's bass BLEW THEM OUT OF THE WATER. The price I paid for mine was $150 (at Best Buy) and the Bose were $100 more at the time. The Bose bass made a really irritating popping noise when turned up too loud (which wasn't very high) - they simply couldn't handle the bass, which really left me wanting more for certain genres of music. Sure, Bose is known for their crisp sound and not their bass, but I honestly felt like these Klipsch had just as crisp a sound as and one I actually preferred over the Bose.

These are great for music AND gaming. I was given a piece of advice that 5.1 speakers are great for gaming and getting a surround sound effect, but leave something to be had with music (which I found true). These are excellent with music and while you don't get a surround sound effect with gaming, they are still really really good for gaming - if you're gaming without bass you'd be surprised at how much you're missing out on that really helps immerse you in the game.

If you're not looking for lots of bass, these are still great speakers. They can hit the lows of lows and the highs of highs even when turned down. Even with the bass turned down significantly, it still adds greatly to music and gaming to hear a quiet low rumbling that is supposed to be there that you simply can't hear with other speakers (especially in this price range 2.1 and 2.0 systems that I saw).

I also looked at 2.0 speakers, and can say that the only 2.0 speaker that I liked the sound quality/bass on was Bose MediaMate - PC multimedia speakers - graphite and Bose® Computer MusicMonitor® -- Black. The musicmonitor seems to just be the new version of the mediamate, but both are expensive (musicmonitor being $400). While I liked these and the bass, they still don't compare to what these klipsh are capable of. If you have room for the subwoofer, you get a much better overall sound and experience for your money with these (or many other 2.1 systems for that matter).

THE BIGGEST DECISION FACTOR for me between these and other 2.1 systems, was that I felt these had a much warmer sound than most other speakers I heard. The treble is there, but its not piercing which is something I personally like.

Overall, I recommend trying to find these locally to listen to before purchasing because sound quality is all about the music you listen to and personal preference, but these are a great place to start!

The result is flatulent, boomy bass. The satellites are still good performers, but they need bass reinforcement.

5.0 out of 5 stars This sound system is awesome!, June 8, 2011

I love this sound system! I ordered it off of amazon and it blew me away. To give you some idea, I am a electronics freak and an audiophile and I own or have owned Pioneer, Klipsch, Polk audio, Kenwood, RCA, Coby, Logitech, Mission, Samsung, Panasonic, Vizio, Harman Kardon, Bose and Sony. I have had experience with a lot of different qualities of sound and know what sounds good. This system is one of those "I would buy another one of these" kind. The subwoofer and the satellites are very high end. The subwoofer is very bassy when you want it to be, its very tight, thick and you can feel it. The subwoofer has a front firing 8" long throw driver and a slot tuned port. The satellites have a very high end Microtractrix horn with a 25mm metalized polymer dome tweeter and 3" long throw mid driver. I cannot emphasize enough how good this system system sounds! If you hook this system up to a mp3 player such as any Ipod or Sansa, RCA, Coby, Creative, Sony mp3 player it sounds fantastic! Also this system sounds awesome when hooked up to a good computer with good sound card. The system makes music, movies or games sound like very high end sound.

These speakers are top notch and have a great sound on all fronts. They're some of the best sound for as little money as they costed me and the bass is phenominal. Definitely worth every cent.

No one does the high ends cleaner, clearer and more crisply than Klipsch--at least no one in my price range, nor even double my price range, and I've listened to many. I love this system. The sound is outstanding from lows to highs. Those who want gigantic bass will probably want something else (and probably don't care about the clean highs as much as I do), but for most music lovers and most gamers this will be a great system at a very good price.
