Product Description

Because the center channel speaker reproduces more than 60 percent of a movie soundtrack, Klipsch spared no expense when developing the Reference Series RC-52. With its ideal combination of technology, performance and design, this speaker delivers a seamless, engaging soundstage that puts listeners inside the action. Exclusive Tractrix Horns have always been the key component of this critically acclaimed series. In the RC-52, this technology has been refined to include improved throat geometry for a more genuine, lifelike sound. Behind the horn lies a 1-inch titanium tweeter with a powerful neodymium magnet motor structure to provide a unique combination of precision, clarity and effortless dynamics. The RC-52 employs dual 5.25-inch woofers for a solid bass foundation. These Cerametallic woofers with inverted copper dust caps exhibit a very high stiffness-to-mass ratio and superb damping characteristics.

The RC-52's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound. Twin front-firing ports eliminate turbulence noise, while increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. For signal purity and perfect driver integration, the crossover on the RC-52 features the finest components and Klipsch custom internal wiring. HIGH FREQ CROSSOVER - 1400Hz, 1600Hz LOW FREQUENCY DRIVERS - Dual 5.25 (13.3cm) Cerametallic cone woofers ENCLOSURE TYPE - Bass-reflex via dual front-firing ports Unit Dimensions HWD - 6.75 (17.2cm) x 20.5 (52.1cm) x 10.5 (26.7cm) / Unit Weight - 22lbs (10kg) Black Ash woodgrain vinyl finish

Bought this to round out system built into living area of house purchased 25x25 area 10 to 13 foot ceilings. 4 Klipsch in walls so went with a Klipsch center that had a little higher RMS(125) than what was already there. This center rocks. I am powering it with Onkyo 876. Most sound from movies comes from center - it works extremely well. You still need a sub for the really low bone shaking (purchased Infinity PS212 $345 to door). Im not an expert - I am extremely frugal (ie cheap). Did a lot of research/testing (thats an understatement) at Fry's, Best Buy and Circuit City. Of course only buy from Amazon no tax and free shipping $329 to my door. In my opinion RC-52 is best bang for buck in Klipsch center you can get. I can only imagine what the RC-64 is like, but that would be overpowering other speakers and its $999. If you have 90 to 120 watts per channel this will definitely work. The 140 of the 876 is a little much for this speaker, but its a little much for every speaker I have. Its so loud now it will run you out of the room and vibrate stuff off of shelves.

With the center channel producing 60% of the audio in a home theater you need a solid center channel speaker. No need to look any further with the Klipsch RC52. Very impressive performance and appearance. The audio reproduction is better then any center channel speaker I have ever owned. You can put your ear right up to this speaker during a movie and it sounds like someone is talking to you. This speaker is very efficient and requires little volume to get full sound. The speaker has no problem retaining a clear output when someone screams; there is no crackling like my previous center channel speaker. This speaker is pretty heavy at 25 lbs. You will either have to use some type of center channel bracket, component shelf, or heavy duty shelf brackets to mount this on the wall. I ended up using two wood shelf brackets that I installed with 4 screws per bracket, all with hollow wall anchors right into the dry wall. The Klipsch Reference series is not like the Klipsch Synergy series. The reference series are mid to high end home entertainment speakers that you have to get through an authorized dealer.

I break it down simply: it is clear, dynamic, and well worth it. As others have noted, the sound is crystal clear coming from the RC-52, but what really impressed me was how much of an improvement I noticed in the sense of space it created. Not exactly a dynamic example, but you can make out the echoes from the type of room the person was in when watching a program on the History channel, whereas my old Pioneer center (S-HF11C) was far muddier. That said, it really shines in terms of clarity when fed high quality sources (DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD) during scenes such as the cave escape in Iron Man, where the gun shots and ricochets are were very crisp. For reference, I have mine hooked up through a Pioneer Elite SC-05 in a 5.1 setup.

You can make a statement on style alone, it looks impressive!!! I'm upgrading an existing system starting with the center speaker, most important to me. I'm very pleased with my choice. Know that your receiver is very important. The speaker will sound only as good and powerful as the receiver driving it can deliver. This speaker works well when driven by a powerful and quality source. Quality in Klipsch is not a question.

The best center speaker I've ever had. Crystal, clear sound from both musics and movies. It's just like listening lively. I would highly recommend this center speaker. I wonder what would it be like with the higher models, RC62 and RC64.

This speaker changed my movie experience at home. The center speaker carries a lot of the load in movie soundtracks, but most emphasis is on big-time subwoofers. I have on of those too, and it is vital for action movies and concert sound tracks, but the center rules for dialogue. Do you find yourself over-revving your sound level so you can hear the conversations? This RC-2 speaker will cure that! The frequency response of this speaker is noticeable; the titanium tweeters provide very realistic non-tinny highs, and the dual cones supply plenty of power. I was actually a bit shocked by the increase in fidelity and the quality of the sound when I first listened to Lisa Kelly with this new setup. For the fussy customer, the speaker has a simple mechanism built in to provide the proper tilt so you can direct the center of the sound waves to your prime listening position. This speaker is my fourth try at getting professional sounding results in my home theater. I am finished now! If you have the high-end audio drivers in an amplifier such as the Pioneer Elite A/V series, this center speaker will do them justice. Enjoy! As usual, Amazon had a very competitive price on this speaker, and you have to love Prime shipping. (BTW, I also have the desktop w/subwoofer Klipsch sound system for my PC. Incredible.) I love the Bose 701 main speakers I'm now using for front speakers and the 301's for rear, but I may try the Klipsch Reference Series.

The center from Klipsch goes well in mids and highs. For lows I would still go for a woofer though the 5.25" isn't bad. The big reason to get a center like this is that 60% of what you hear on a tv (the voices) come from a speaker like this (or your bookshelf speakers). This takes away from the strain on the other speakers. Really putting multiple nice speakers together makes it loud all over. I can also see though that not matching a center with the other fronts could be a problem. Overall this speaker lives up to the brand and actually give a lot of oompf to the front of a system.
