Wow, I don't know where to begin. These RF-52 II speakers embody everything I expect from Klipsch!

First I will start by mentioning Klipsch's trademark horn tweeters: they are simply /fantastic/! They are crisp, clean and bright and do not exhibit the harshness some might claim all horns deliver. I wanted speakers which would do Pink Floyd's work justice - particularly Dark Side of the Moon (arguably one of the best-engineered albums ever). I was not disappointed.

When I hooked the speakers up to my receiver and put the CD in I was blown away - the "heartbeat" at the beginning of "Speak to Me/Breathe" was faithfully reproduced, with a depth I would never expect from 5.25" woofers, allowing these speakers to hold their own even with the subwoofer turned off. Midrange is clear and the tweeters are simply breathtaking - I could hear every nuance, and makes me grateful I have been so selective about attending concerts, and using hearing protection after helping friends with sound systems at gigs, to preserve my hearing. Voices are crisp, bass has depth and is well damped, so it's accurate-sounding, and much to my pleasure I identified subtle details in DSotM I never noticed before (I always love noticing "new" subtleties in their work). Hearing "Clare Torry" is performance on the "Great Gig in the Sky" through these speakers is an experience I only ever heard before through high-end Sennheiser or Sony studio headphones. The cymbals, clocks, and other instruments and sounds where there are subtle high harmonic frequencies in real life are faithfully reproduced by these speakers.

I'm using these speakers as L/R fronts in conjunction with the Klipsch RC-52 II and RS-41 II speakers as a 5.1 system. The tweeters provide nice crips highs and the lows are substantial from the 5.25" woofers. The sound quality is amazing from a Blu-Ray source and provides an unbelievable dynamic theater experience. Not sure if it's worth the extra cost for the Reference II generation (new crossover), but Klipsch is correct when the boast remarkable balance of performance and value when referring to this speaker.

After reading other reviews for the Klipsch RF-52 II Reference floor standing speakers, there is not much that I can add other than to concur with the excellent reviews of Klipsch's outstanding product(s).

I'm using the RF-52's as the primary front left and right speakers in a 5.1 home theater system/setup. I had an existing center channel and sub-woofer (an older Klipsch RC-3 and KSW-12)... it may be obvious that I'm a long term Klipsch fan. In our old home, I had installed Klipsch Reference ceiling speakers, which were brilliant- however, my new setup blows my old setup away. I rounded out my rear speakers with Klipsch RS-42's which sound (and look) very impressive. The speakers are hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V3800 which can drive the speakers up to 140 watts of power - the Klipsch speakers are so efficient that I rarely get beyond the 1/3 of the power available. I have the speakers in a 25x25 room with the primary seating 10-11 feet in front of the speakers. The RF-52s along with the RS-42s sound quality is nothing less than outstanding - while watching "Hugo" with my family, I caught myself listening to how dynamic the sound was between the front and rears - the clarity and range of these speakers are phenomenal. One thing that impressed me with my new Klipsch speakers from the beginning: how crystal clear the sound is across all frequency ranges without sounding "harsh", even when driving the speakers at higher volume levels. Speakers and "sound" in general is subjective (RF-52s may not compare favorably to $5K Magneplanars - but I also don't need dedicated 700 watt tube based amps to drive them either), however, I would not hesitate to recommend RF-52s or RS-42s to anyone looking for the best speaker for the dollar in the mid-range catagory.

I'm using a pair of Klipsch Reference RF-52 II speakers currently set up in simple stereo with an Onkyo TX-8555 receiver and they perform very well with all the types of music I listen to: rock, electronic, acoustic, classical. Sound quality is excellent all across the range from highs to lows. The bass is more powerful than I would have expected. Reviewers on other sites sometimes note that they need to add a subwoofer with these when used in a home theater setup; but I did not find this to be the case when I had them hooked up with a less powerful home theater receiver in the TV room. It does seem to be important to position these speakers at least 12 inches away from the wall to get the best bass. (My rooms have bare hardwood floors -- if you have thick carpets, YMMV.) These speakers can pump out a lot of volume -- I suspect if I turned the stereo up much past half way, they might cause structural damage to the building -- but I know the music would still sound clear and sharp.

I decided to replace all of my home theater speakers with Klipsch brand. The one's I'm replacing are Infinity TSS-SAT 1200. I've had them for about 6 or 7 years. My previous speakers before those were also Infinity. I expected a significant sound improvement mainly because of the size difference(RF-52's are much larger than my SAT 1200's which are on stands). The build quality and attractiveness of the Klipsch are a nice bonus. I have an open floor plan where the living and dining room are one big room divided by furniture. These speakers more than fill the whole are with rich sound for music or movies! The highs are especially loud and clear, due to the horn tech used. If you are looking to build a really nice surround sound system for under 2 grand, this is a good place to start.
