Amazon.com Product Description

The compact, video-shielded RSX-5 speaker is designed to reproduce the main or surround channels in a high-performance satellite/subwoofer system or to stand alone in any indoor application requiring very small speakers of the highest quality. It delivers incredibly dynamic and accurate sound by utilizing a 1-inch titanium-dome compression driver coupled to Klipsch's round MicroTractrix horn. A 5.25-inch, long-throw cerametallic cone woofer with a powerful neodymium magnet pumps out clean, dynamic bass that extends low enough to mesh seamlessly with the crossovers built into A/V receivers, surround processors, and powered subwoofers.

The speaker's gracefully contoured, high-rigidity enclosure is small enough to fit unobtrusively almost anywhere. An integrated ball-joint pedestal stand with bottom keyholes makes it easy to place the RSX-5 on any convenient surface (walls included) and direct its sound into the listening area. The satellite's magnetic grille easily snaps into place over its cast-aluminum front baffle, while sturdy five-way binding posts ensure secure connection to any type of cable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Sound, October 15, 2008
By
This review is from: Klipsch RSX5 SILVER Reference Series Satellite Shelf Speaker (Electronics)
I bought these to replace some Yamaha AS636's that were about 20 years old. The Yamaha's sounded good, but they took up space. I wanted something to mount on the wall.

I have some Klipsch Quintet II speakers that I uses for 4 surrounds in a 7.1 setup and I like the sound from them and I thought these would match well. I expected these to be the same thing only a higher end model. I was surprised at how much bigger these are than the quintet II's. They probably weigh 2-3x as much.

Mounting was easy. They provide a template with a built in level so you can easily mark where to drill holes. Plus the base has a removable cover that comes off so you can slide the speaker into the screws and see what you're doing. When done sliding the speakers onto the 3 screws, you can tighten the screws and put the cover back on. I was surprised that the connectors aren't banana plug. They connect using a screw.

As far as sound goes, the sound is very alive. if you're familiar with Klipsch, these have the same sound as other Klipsch speakers. The bass is surprisingly good from such a small speaker. The midrange is lacking.

If you want a small, wall mountable speaker at a good price, this is probably as good a deal as you'll ever see. Overall, the speakers are good for what they are, but they don't sound nearly as good as most higher end bookshelf or floor standing speakers.
