Decent Sound,

This review is from: Klipsch RSX5 SILVER Reference Series Satellite Shelf Speaker (Electronics)
I bought these to replace some Yamaha AS636's that were about 20 years old. The Yamaha's sounded good, but they took up space. I wanted something to mount on the wall.I have some Klipsch Quintet II speakers that I uses for 4 surrounds in a 7.1 setup and I like the sound from them and I thought these would match well. I expected these to be the same thing only a higher end model. I was surprised at how much bigger these are than the quintet II's. They probably weigh 2-3x as much. Mounting was easy. They provide a template with a built in level so you can easily mark where to drill holes. Plus the base has a removable cover that comes off so you can slide the speaker into the screws and see what you're doing. When done sliding the speakers onto the 3 screws, you can tighten the screws and put the cover back on. I was surprised that the connectors aren't banana plug. They connect using a screw. As far as sound goes, the sound is very alive. if you're familiar with Klipsch, these have the same sound as other Klipsch speakers. The bass is surprisingly good from such a small speaker. The midrange is lacking. If you want a small, wall mountable speaker at a good price, this is probably as good a deal as you'll ever see. Overall, the speakers are good for what they are, but they don't sound nearly as good as most higher end bookshelf or floor standing speakers. |
