Great Sound Begins With a Great Bottom End

When it comes to adding deep, driving bass to your stereo or home theater system, our SW-350 subwoofer is ready to take on all the heavy lifting. After all, this intelligently designed powerhouse lets you hear—and feel—your music, movies and video games.

A Heavy Hitter in a Small Package

L/R high level speaker binding posts
Big Sound Without a Big Footprint

Great sound begins with a great bottom end. The SW-350 subwoofer delivers the two lowest octaves of the ten humans can hear, intensifying your listening and viewing experiences. The SW-350 fills any room with big, clear bass, thanks to its powerful eight-inch driver and Class D amplifier. But if you really want to experience what this hard-hitter can do, be sure to place it in the corner of your room. In general, placing a subwoofer along the middle of the wall, or out in the room will decrease its output.

8-inch down-firing driver
The SW-350's eight-inch driver produces amazing bass response with low distortion – it outperforms some 10-inch subs. The built-in amplifier delivers 350 booming watts of peak power, and its sleek, modern design complements today’s HDTVs. Its aesthetics and power make it an ideal partner for Klipsch's Quintet home theater system.

Designed for Flexibility

In addition to its unparalleled performance, the SW-350 offers unmatched flexibility. A low pass crossover and variable phase control lets you effectively blend the subwoofer’s low-frequency tones with other Klipsch speakers as well as establish a level of bass that’s just right for your room.

The SW-350 subwoofer is truly the way to go if you’re building your dream system; it’s the perfect partner for the Quintet home theater system.

I purchased one of these from Amazon about 9 months ago, to replace an old Polk 150w sub. Even though this was a smaller size driver/cone, it significantly out-performed the Polk it replaced. I liked it so much, that I wanted a second one to have a less "directional" bass. In my house, I can't position the bass where it's location audibly isn't obvious. So I waited for another 'sale', and added a second one. This rounded out the room, and the positional nature of the bass source(s), is no longer apparent. It simply rounds-out the room. The directional nature of the bass, is not a subwoofer issue -- it's a placement issue.

For the price vs. performance, for my 7.1 Home Theater environment, this was a wonderful addition.

I will note, that both units sit on hardwood floors, and even with the rubber pads (that come with it) underneath the smallish feet, it will 'walk' a bit if you really crank it up -- especially for music, etc... Hasn't bothered me enough to figure out a better solution -- will probably see if adding some additional rubber pads (like the ones that go under sofas) will solve the 'walk'. I docked 1 star (4 out of 5) because of the walk and the design issue that leads to it.

Again, I'm not an audiophile -- so those who want to spend 3-4 times as much, to get that "little bit more" out of a subwoofer, sonically speaking, then that's great. I'm a cost-conservative person, and this - on sale - really fit the bill, twice ;)

Also, one of my requirements was downward firing -- I have cats, and anything with a face grill would not survive. This also works well for those with that 'unique' situation.

Don't let the small, "eight-inch" size scare you away. This thing is loud. But it's not just loud... It hits hard, accurate, and deep. It's not overly "boomy", and it's not "muddy" sounding at all. It has plenty of power, and is very over-kill for the bookshelf speakers it was designed to work with. (Klipsch Icon KB-15/Synergy B-20) It doesn't look attractive in pictures, but it's much nicer looking in person. Has all the inputs and controls you need on the back, without anything extra you don't need. Very, very nice woofer.

Only a few, small little things I'd change or like to see improvement on:
    - The feet/shape. I'd like to see a more boxy, full-looking, less curvy shape towards the top. The feet also are a glossy plastic and stick out to the sides. Feet directly under it would be nice, so it doesn't look like a big four-legged box.
    - The speaker diaphragm is right on the bottom, un-covered and un-protected. Also, the only real way to comfortable move the speaker is by picking it up directly from the bottom. So be careful when moving it or placing it down that you don't pick it up by the speaker, or puncture/indent the speaker.

I bought the Definitive Technology SC4000 Definitive Technology SC4000 Subwoofer - Black, Klipsch SW-350 Klipsch SW-350 8-Inch 350 Watt Subwoofer (Black) and Klipsch Quintet Klipsch Quintet 5.0 Home Theater Speaker System (Black) set to replace my current Onkyo home theater in a box. I wanted something that could be accurate and loud enough for music and movies, but was also relatively small (the wife thanks me for that). I only bought the SC4000 from amazon because of difficulties ordering the other pieces. I am reviewing all products together so that anyone else in the market for a similar system has a good idea of how these work together. I paired the speakers with the Sony 7.2 receiver (a decent receiver) and they are set up in my 15x20 living room that is open to my kitchen and foyer. I'll rate them on what I cared about most: accuracy, loudness, smallness, and shake my house.

I was apprehensive about the Klipsch Quintet 5.0 (newest model) because I was worried about how directional the speakers are (I didn't want a super tiny sweet spot). My worries were confirmed, however I think I like the directionality for the most part. They were difficult to set up and angle correctly, but now that I did, they sound amazing! They can go louder than I need (and I like everything loud), however keep in mind I have 2 decent subwoofers. To me, they sound best when I play music (I mostly listen to rock and classical, but I throw in a little rap when I want to shake my house). For the movies, they do a very good job, but not all seating positions get to experience their awesomeness (even after hours of positioning).

I wanted something to complete my home theater system's low end sound but was a little nervous purchasing this because I live in a connected townhome with neighbors on both sides and I didn't want to disturb them. The sound this subwoofer produces is amazing! I simply keep the volume knob 1/3 of the way turned up and it produces just the right amount of bass to round out my theater setup without causing too much disturbance. The low ends it produces are crisp and tight. Also, the standby feature works flawlessly. There is a bright blue light at the front of the unit but it doesn't bother/distract me too much. It's also nice to have a visual indicator when it is on and when it turns off to ensure the standby functionality is working properly. The unit itself looks very nice and compliments all of my new theater components. It does come with rubber caps that can be attached to the feet for placement on hard surfaces but I found them to be lacking so I used my own simple/cheap adhesive non-slick rubber pads to keep it in place and help absorb vibration. Would highly recommend.
