Great price, great sound.,

This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-10 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
I hooked this SW up too my Yamaha tuner and Klipsch Quintet II speakers. The first thing I watched was Apocalypse Now due to the phenominal 5.1 sound. The subwoofer is tremendous. You can have it as loud or as subtle as you want and it doesnt distort. Hook up was a breeze via a single "SW cable" (not supplied). I'm not a tech head but I had no problems putting it all together.
The sub has its own power supply which is an absolute must have from a power set up standpoint. Just a side note.... all these components are only as good as the bit in the middle (the tuner) and the amount of power that it can push to the individual parts. Once you have it all set right this sub will last you a long long long time before you outgrow it. I WOULD buy this product again if I had too.

GARBAGE,
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-10 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
One quick Google search would have prevented me from ever buying this. As with countless other reviewers on the web (but apparently not on Amazon) one day the thing blew its fuse and every replacement I tried. It's just over 2 years old. The amplifier is apparently "bad" and it costs almost as much to fix it as to replace it (it is not covered under warranty at this point). I have had a pair of Klipsch Kg series speakers for years and have always been under the impression that their products were fairly high quality. Not anymore, and I say that based more on the large number of similar complaints found on the internet than on my own experience. Worst part is that its sound really wasn't anything too special. No more Klipsch for me.

Amazing sound and Power! I wouldn't buy this for an apartment or townhouse unless you like making people angry. I debated getting the Klipsch SUB-12 but unless you are putting it in a huge room the SUB-10 is more than enough. I have it in a 13 ft by 25 ft room and it's set at maybe 30% if you consider the dial on the back and the adjustment on my receiver. Up much higher and it never shuts up. I like loud sub sound but when it rattles the walls even during the commercials it can get old. Also, the fullness of the sound is great. It sits to the left of my TV but you wouldn't be able to point to the sound source if you couldn't see it sitting there. It's not a small piece of equipment so make sure you note the dimensions.

This sub has the connectivity and features of a way more expensive sub for a pretty reasonable price, I am very happy with it so far and I have barely turned up the bass, A+ product!

Died after minimal usage,
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-10 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
This was great bang for your buck sub when it was working. However, after 2 years of MINIMAL usage it just went out on me for no reason at all. Although Klipsch offers a 5 year warranty on the sub, the amp itself only comes with a 2 year warranty.I tried replacing the fuses a couple of times but every time the sub would just instantly blow out the fuse. I googled up this problem and it seems fairly widespread with a lot of people complaining about this exact same problem. Klipsch's customer service is extremely lacking and fail to acknowledge any complaints about their subs. My advice to anyone considering this sub is to steer away from it. Google up "My Klipsch Sub 10 died" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Initially, when unpacking you realize this is a solid subwoofer. It is heavy, and big, but not too big. Once I hooked mine up to a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K 7-Channel A/V Receiver (Black) along with Klipsch Quintet SL Home Theater System (Set of Five, Black) it was time to test it out. The auto-on feature works great, and the blue power light comes on as soon as it receives a signal from the receiver. I haven't needed to turn the volume past about 1/3, and anything over that is just too much. I enjoy nice deep bass, but it should blend well with the rest of the sound you are hearing, and this subwoofer does a great job. Not to mention turning it up any higher would probably annoy all the neighbors around and below my apartment. On a side note, If you have narrowed your search down to Klipsch subwoofers/speakers (I guarantee you won't regret either) you may be wondering if you should go with the SUB-10 or SUB-12. Klipsch actually recommends pairing its quinet SL speakers with the SUB-12, but I am glad I saved the money and went with this instead. In my non technical opinion, If you are looking for a great subwoofer for the above-average living room theater this is perfect. If you are designing an actual "home theater" you'd probably be better with the SUB-12.

This well constructed box emanates a robust , variable frequency bass signal to complement most home theater systems. Oddly enough, I'm using this in a space with in ceiling speakers (also Klipsch, 8" tiltable). The sound quality is far superior to a Polk SW which is part of my home theater room, but I'm more particular to music listening than I am to movie sounds.
Sure there are better 10" SW- (Klipsch's own XW-500 comes to mind), but at a price. As each space is different, and every person's "tolerance vs. need" for deep bass frequencies varies, so one must custom adjust the speaker settings to their liking. My situation is rather unusual since the mains are situated quite far up a cathedral ceiling. I recommend placing a SW not only correctly in the room layout, but if possible also to have easy access to the back knobs for loudness and frequency adjustments. Depending on the source, I always vary the value between 30-50% gain and fine tune the crossover to compliment the recording. I have to agree with another reviewer that the SUB-12 is indeed a superior SW. I originally purchased the 12" and was amazed at the musical quality it delivered. Sadly the SUB12, in my case, was overkill and overpowered the acoustics of my space, so I returned it for this. The SUB-10 offers a quality sound but leaning more toward generic compared to its bigger brother. Nevertheless I find it a quality product for my needs.

WOW, I'm blown away,

After setting up this sub, i have to say that i am officially a Klipsch convert. The bass delivered by the sub10 is so deep that i'm amazed it is coming from it. It goes so low that it feels like a rumble and it is also very powerful. I've been procrastinating for about 2 months and finally decided to buy it. I've been all smiles since then. My walls now vibrate and the movie experience is 100% better. I coupled this with the Klipsch Quintet III and it has been a perfect marriage. If you're on a budget but need a quality system, this is the one to buy. In my opinion this is even better than BOSE who charge 10x more. Please buy it if you are considering. Only thing is that if this is perfect i wonder how the sub12 sounds like????

This sub sounds great, and really completes a home theater setup. I only have the sub volume turned up 1/3 of the way and it blends very well with the system. Nice tight bass that can shake the walls when you turn it up. I'm not sure why you would need the 12" unless you have a really large room. I live in an apt building, so I am using the Auralex GRAMMA, which helps to not piss off the neighbors. Overall I highly recommend this sub.

sounds good when working but won't last long,
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-10 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
I should have known when the LED indicator on the front never change to indicate the sygnal drop when the receiver was turned off. Shortly after the two year period with minimal use, I noticed the fuse was blown and that is all she wrote. Amp/board is shot. I bought this on the reputation for the brand, after reading up on this issue, I wish I would have read up on this product before purchasing because this is a regular problem with the product. I called and emailed Klipsch and neither of my attemps where answered. What a waste and such a short life. Klipsch Customer service is terrible, and steer away from this product if you want something that has a track record of lasting.
