5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Sub!
I recently replaced a Polk Audio PSW-12 with the Synergy. This is an amazing upgrade. It mixes well with the Polk RTi-8 Fronts, and CSi-3 Center, R15 surround and Infinity Primus 250 Back Surround. All of these speakers are powered by an Onkyo 803.

The previous sub had good bass response, but was very directional. What I mean by that is I could hear the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Klipsch Sub 12
This sub is really loud and deep bass. You can set the crossover up to 120 and even if you set the gain (volume) to half it would fill up the room. Mine is 1000 sq ft with 12 ft ceiling.

The only issue I have is the materials used was cheap mdf and its HUGE but not too heavy. The amp broke after 1 month, good thing I bought it from an authorized dealer close...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Sub!, May 15, 2008
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)

What I mean by that is I could hear the bass coming from the sub. It did not fill the room. The Synergy fills the room, and actually makes the bass sound like it is coming from the individual speakers. If you increase the gain, it will shake the house.

Installation was very simple. I used the LFE connection, and plugged it in to power. It also has an automatic power save mode, and a light on the front to let you know what mode it is in. Over all, a great value!

Beware of those internet authorized dealer, apparently warranty for Klipsch does not include home service. You basically have to ship it to them at your own expense with the original box (oouch !!!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Subwoofer, August 2, 2008
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
This is a tremdous improvement over bass speakers I've owned in the past. Deeper, fuller and not boomy at all. You actually feel the sound much like listening to a large pipe organ. It's the best I've ever owned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible & Powerful Sound, November 28, 2009

This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
I've had 4 subwoofers before owning this one: Polk, Velodyne and Yamaha amongst them.

I can write volumes on them - what I liked / didn't like / how long they lasted or didn't.

The Klipsch Synergy Woofer Sub-12 is by far the very best.

You really can NOT tell where the sound is coming from - but you feel and you KNOW is there/everywhere.
I use this with Klipsch F-3 Synergy front speakers as part of a 10 speaker dedicated home theater setup and the combo is truly outstanding.

Only knock on it is that it is HUGE - taller and bigger than most.
And the design is different from others - but I didn't buy it to look at it, I bought it to hear it.
Make sure you check out the dimensions.

What I love about is that you forget it exists - it does NOT interfere when it shouldn't as the sound is extremely clear.
You experience it rather than say "ahh there goes the subwoofer" -- it just blends in as needed seamlessly.
Your chest feels it when an explosion goes off or a crash takes place but even then the sounds just seems to come from all around you instead of from the box in the room.
With all the other subs I could always locate the sound.

Easy to use too: I have set mine on auto on/off. After the initial experimentation / fooling around with different settings during the first week or so, I have NEVER touched it since.

I've had it since June 2009.
Couldn't be happier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Incredible, February 24, 2009
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
Love it, Love it, Love it! Expensive but well worth the money. This thing can shake the entire house, but the best part about this sub is that it can augment the listening experience with good bass at almost any volume. Even if your listening at low volumes, this sub can add a layer of depth that wouldn't have been there otherwise. Don't think, just buy! You will not be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Problem Solver for Inadequate Bass Response, August 3, 2009
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
KLIPSCH SYNERGY Sub-12: Unlike most people who purchase a Sub-woofer to add to their Home Theater (HT) system, I needed a Sub for another reason. I had to replace my 25 yr old Integrated Amplifier with a modern A/V Receiver. One thing I didn't forget was to pick a Receiver with Phono input for my turntable (26 yrs old). But, I didn't realize until a few days later, after figuring out how everything else worked on the new component, that it did not have a "loudness" button on it either. I didn't think about it at first because mine was always turned on. I only have one pair of speakers connected to it; a couple of Klipsch Heresy's that I have had forever. These small box speakers do not have much low-end response, maybe 50-60 Hz at most.

Well, the old "loudness" compensation would normally boost the low-end enough to be adequate for my listening purposes, but with this modern A/V Receiver, the speakers sounded very flat and turning the Bass up to its highest point didn't change things much. It was becoming obvious to me that the design of these 5.1 & 7.1 Surround Systems was that the designers really expect you to hook up a sub for "full-range sound" and that an adequate amount of bass response was missing from the standard left and right front channels even when I picked "Large" speakers in the set-up. So, off I went to the local Best Buy to listen to some of the models I found here on Amazon when I searched for Sub-woofer: Polk Audio, Klipsch, etc. My budget was $200 - $300 and I hoped the little Polk PSW10 would do what I needed since it had recently gone on sale for a substantial savings. But, after hearing the performance of the more powerful Klipsch models I knew I just had to have one. The local store was out of stock on the Synergy 10" so I was able to make a deal on the larger 12" model for about $50 off by complaining that I really wanted the 10" model they were out of (Oh Yeah!) I got the larger model with a 300 watt built in amplifier. This thing has been awesome. Very easy set-up, used the LFE connecter from my Denon AVR-2308 Receiver, and so far only have the sub at ½ gain on the volume/input and it fills the room with all the low-end frequencies I was missing before without being "boomy". I am only listening to music with this set-up. Home Theater is not quite as demanding as continuous music input. This really fills in the kick-drum and subtle, low-end Bass guitar notes.

I feel this sub has all the features anyone would probably want: variable crossover from 40-120 Hz, High level inputs and Low level (line) inputs, LOW frequency response = 24-120 Hz, Auto power On/Off, phase switch, very adequate power at 300 watts continuous (600 watt peak), and a 2 yr warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big BANG low buck, June 30, 2009
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
This thing hits. It hits hard and clean. Most subs sound great with movies and alright with music. Music sounds so good with this sub. As well as movies. Im so happy with this sub. Shakes the WHOLE house. :) Don't settle for a ten inch or another brand. At this price it can not be beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tight, enveloping bass! Great for games, music, and movies!, May 21, 2009
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
Based upon the reviews, I purchased this Sub-12 to complement two Klipsch F-3 floorstanders, and to extend the lower range of the audio spectrum. Needless to say, this Sub-12 is not only a behemoth in size, but a monster when it comes to filling the room with deep, smooth, yet tight bass. I never turn my Sub-12 beyond 1/2 gain - it's overkill!!!

Word of Caution: Watch out for wall-mounted pictures/objects as they WILL fall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wall Shaker, August 13, 2009
This review is from: Klipsch Synergy SUB-12 Subwoofer Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
I have this sub in my Great room(Living room, Kitchen Dining room all in one giant room) and it has no problems shaking all doors and pictures in the room. once I tuned it to my speaker setup it sounds great(Awesome during Transformers on bluray). The only thing that bothers me is that its pretty light, so when the bass is really going good, sometimes the whole thing moves from the vibrations on the hardwood floor and the feet make a popping noise. I solved this by putting my wifes Yoga mat underneath it. (don't worry, she never uses it anyways)
I would, and have, recommended this sub to people looking for a great price/performance ratio.
