Advanced, Proprietary WDST Design for a Seamless Soundfield

Dramatically reducing a speaker's enclosure, as seen in the WS-24, poses some engineering challenges. The larger the speaker, the more output and dynamics you get. However, the engineers at Klipsch have found a way to generate excellent output and dispersion from this slim speaker by employing an all-new proprietary technology called the XT Tractrix Horn. For over 60 years, horns have been the driving force behind Klipsch speakers. The XT engineering takes this time-proven philosophy to new heights by altering the surface geometry of the WS-24’s dual horns.

Furthermore, Klipsch's exclusive Wide Dispersion Surround Technology, or WDST, allows the WS-24 to create a smooth, high dispersion pattern, providing crystal-clear sonic detail even in listening areas with less than ideal configurations. So, no matter where you sit, this speaker promises to draw you into the middle of the action.

WDST takes a different approach to surround sound room coverage than traditional monopole, bipole or dipole speakers do. The Klipsch ICON WS-24, with its dual XT Tractrix Horn technology, is similar in design to the surround speakers used in Klipsch Professional Theater Speaker Systems--which are installed in over half of new theaters in the Americas, South Korea and Australia. The dual 80-degree x 80-degree horns are arrayed at the proper angles to provide even, consistent frequency response coverage in all directions. The high-output dual woofers are crossed over closer to the point their frequencies are omnidirectional, creating a system which provides a balanced and seamless soundfield to all listeners. Whether the surround sound is enveloping, such as a rainstorm, wind, or a large crowd scene, or more direct, such as bullets whizzing by you from all locations or a door knock distinctly behind you to the right, the WS-24’s can recreate it realistically. And their unique design allows greatly expanded placement flexibility in today's living rooms.

Stunning High-End Cabinetry Looks Fantastic in Any Room

While the WS-24 employs modern advancements on the inside, it reflects a classic approach on the outside, featuring a timeless wood veneer cabinet finished in Espresso or Cabernet. Unlike most speaker manufacturers who opt for domestic veneers (cherry, oak or maple), Klipsch selected an exotic, non-endangered Berlinia veneer from West Africa. Berlinia is a sister veneer to Zebrawood, which is often featured on luxury goods.

The WS-24 cabinet is carefully sanded, sealed and stained. Much like in high-end furniture manufacturing, the stain is then top coated with a polyurethane finish. This spray application involves 10 coats, with sanding between each coat to achieve the proper thickness. The cabinet is also inspected at every sanding level to ensure clarity over the stained veneer.

I wanted the WS-24s ever since i saw them in the store when they were new but didnt have the 400$ each price tag they went for. I got the WF-34 Fronts, WC-24 center, and now with the price drop these. It sounds great, they are deep , Full sounding speakers, Work great as Side or Rear Surrounds or even fronts of you want. They Surround the room in smooth Even sound with music or Movies. Highly Recommended speakers. Built Quality is outstanding.

I had a 5.1 Vienna Acoustics speakers. 2 VA Mozart Grand as fronts, VA Maestro Grand as Center, 2 VA Haydn Grand as surround and a REL sub. I was amazed by these WS-24 speakers as surround sound while we were watching "Tron: Legacy" at my friend's house. I borrowed them home and replaced them with my existing VA Haydn grands and holly cow, it was like day and night. The WS-24 performs much much better than the Haynd Grand. The sound is fuller and and i could hear every detail that I've never heard with my VA Haynd.

I ordered a pair while they were on sale fromt he "...egg" store and sold my VA grand for 1k. I still have over 600 bucks to spare and now I have a better system.

Strongly recommended. You will not regret.

I got this speaker(s) X 4 as a surround to go with wc-24 center and 2X wf-35 powered by Onkyo TX-NR809. It is amazing - one of the best surround speakers I ever listened to and the fact that they come with 2 sets of speakers spaced in 60 degree makes it that much better. Plus it looks awesome! Nice ambient, great high notes (key chain jingle in a horror flick gave me goose bumps. Pair this system with a good sub (I got RW 12D reference sub) and the whole setup is the best home theater setup available (for the money)
