Yeah, you should buy it...,

I saw this crew on television in Paris & knew I'd found something good, and this CD made me feel them even more. Actually, it pretty much wrecked my ability to appreciate most American music, just because Saian does it so much BETTER...Their style is all over the map- every different kind of hip-hop is represented, and they do a great job with all of it. Each song is different from the next and you can pick out the influence of different US groups: The Beatnuts, Gangstarr, Outkast, Wu, Cypress Hill, The Roots, etc. The beats are amazing and the samples are spun creatively (ie no looping), and if you're a beatbox/vocal scratch fan, this is IT. PLUS they can sing. Definitely get this album. Even if you don't speak any French, or just a little (like me), you'll love this one just for the pure hip-hop soul.

French Revolution - la Revolution Francaise,
By "unes2k" (France) - See all my reviews

Wow...what a CD. Saian Supa Crew have revolutionised global Hip Hop. Other French Hip Hop CD's have known a lot of success in France...this is going to change thanks to the Supa Crew. Sure, MC Solaar is known as a great poet around the world, but he is far from being the best in France ( although he has known a lot of success ). The likes of Iam (with whom Wu Tang appear in Iam's album called "l'ecole du micro d'argent" ), NTM ( with whom Nas appears in NTM's album called "Paris sous les bombes" ) and numerous others would have known as much success then BIG and Tupac were it not for the language. French Hip Hop has its own original style and the East/West coast tention is a reflection of the Paris/Marseille tention in France. But Saian have reinvented Hip Hop and the people like it....a lot. The second track, "Raz De Maree" is close to perfection, so is the 3rd and 4th. Saian show off their Capella skills in th 12th track...it seems that they can recreate different kinds of sounds just by singing and there beat box skills are just incredible. This is a must buy for any fan of Hip Hop and good music and it should be the start of a new era for French Hip Hop...an international era. Start your French Hip Hop collection with this album and never end it.

Amazing Album!!!,

I first heard this album a few years ago, and I was very much impressed. Although it is all in French (which I can't understand too much) I was awestruck by the group's energy. Amazing MC's and great beats. Their energy is something I wish showed in most hip hop groups here in the States. This album has convinced me to pick up French all over again.

resurrection of hiphop,
This review is from: Klr (Audio CD)
well, if you are tired of all the commercial hiphop, you know like snoop dogg, juvenile and all that..., then Saian Supa Crew is the group for you. Great lyrics, great music and something never heard before. Original, not the same... that you hear on radio. all the songs are exellent from raz de Maree to the soft KLR. the beats are exellent and the harmony between them is also exelent (ring my bell). if you admire beatboxing, then SSC is also your group. this comes from a Roots fan.

This is an amazing album. I might possibly be my favorite album regardless of genre, and I don't even know a word in French. I love X Raisons. This is actually quite a lot better...
They play on ALL hip hop strings that are: Aggressive, laidback, happy, angry, dancehall, raggae, soft, hard, fast & slow. But most importantly: ALL with their hip hop soul punching through in the most utterly funky way. Soulful, organic, flowing, energetic. Impressive. Wish I knew French, cause I belive the lyrics are quite political and strong. But either way - this album cannot be missed. I would fly to Paris just to see them live. You should order this album right away.

Comparatively a fresh breath of air,
By sXemonkey "unoriginal sellout" (Bton, IN USA) - See all my reviews

For the kids who want to get away from the repetitive and unimaginative crap that's on the radio. The CD was released here a year ago, but was available in Europe in 2000. Sounds more crisp and creative than most mainstream hip-hop. Non-French speakers may not appreciate the fact that they won't understand the lyrics, but the music and flow should more than compensate. There are some weaker songs and the single releases of Angela and Que Dit On are much better. Try to find them online, they're worth the extra listen.
