I purchased this saw for a project that I am building. I didn't expect much, considering the competition is priced about 3-10x the purchase price of this saw. Don't get me wrong--this saw IS NOT like the $400+ compound sliding miter saws. I would not recommend it for the heavy user based on my preliminary experience. It came nicely boxed in good condition. The manual is limited but adequate. Assembly was simple. The laser seems off by about 1mm which is fine as long as you remember this with each cut. The 60 tooth carbide blade cuts nicely. The miter angles don't click as solidly at each common angle, but it easily tightens down and cuts any angle accurately. My 5 star rating is based on the fact that it exceeds my expectations for this price point, not that it compares to the $400+ saws. This saw seems to fit my needs (homeowner, casual woodworker) nicely.

Bought this saw, after seeing other reviews on the internet.Only used it a couple of times so far. Seems to be an OK saw. It is lighter than other Name Brand saws I have seen. I doubt that it would hold up under daily use. But for part time weekend projects it seeems to be fine. Removed out of the box and checked squareness. It was right on. The detents for angles are not even noticable, but it locks down tight. The Laser is a joke. I had to turn off all the lights in my shop, and I still could just hardly see it. But I guess that is why people use a pencil. All and all I think for the price, and for the occasional user, it is a good buy. If you order it from Nothern Tool, don't expect it under 2 weeks.

this saw is a workable cheap imitation of a genuine miter saw. might be good for chopping boards not dependent on precise cutting. blade which came with it is poor quality and leaves splits when cutting hardwood board

If you spend some money on a good quality bladethen this saw works great, for decks, framing projects, ect. The blade it comes with is ok and is carbide, I use it to cut used lumber so I keep the quality of my good blade. it came w/exta brushes, and all the parts, all in all, it realy has held up over many projects. For the price, you can't beat it..

You Get What You Pay For,
This review is from: - Klutch Compound Sliding Miter Saw with Laser Guide - 10in. (Misc.)
This saw has a very accurate laser, good strong motor, and decent movement and action. Makes nice accurate cuts quickly. But to me a miter saw is about cutting miters, so the preset stop points on the slide should be secure, positive and quickly repeatable when going from one side to the other. Also, the electric brake is important as well. This saw falls well short of acceptable to me in those two areas. The detents on the slide are a tease and pretty much worthless. And the electric brake is almost imperceptible. The blade slows down just a hair but still spins for way too long. The blade should stop almost immediately. The other thing is the cast aluminum base is frail. Don't drop this thing on concrete because it will most likely crack. I got suspicious when I found a few small broken pieces that broke off from the underside of the housing in the box when I unpacked it. Cast aluminum is very light but it's also a very weak metal, and there's nothing heavy duty about this part of the saw. The radial ribs under the base are very thin and I can't see them taking much force to break. If they were thicker or beefier then I would let it pass but they really skimped on this area. This saw would never last for a pro moving it from job to job. Like I said you get what you pay for. Good accuracy and power but short on quality.

Good looking sliding saw and works well, slides well. Special screw to change blades is a joke. Need security screwdriver to remove and put back. Blade guard could be designed much better, but for the price I am more than satisfied.

Since the northern tool will only post positive reviews and are not interested in letting customers know about the true cons.....So here we are. I will make it short and sweet.Wow, all these 4+ star reviews and not one mention of the most important missing feature from this miter saw. The only miter saw on the market without the essential 90 and 45-degree bevel stops that are generally on each side of the carriage pivot. Usually a bolt with jam nut. Not even in manual or parts list. Talk to 3 techs. No clue. How can this be overlooked? Oh yeah those dual Allen screws on each side are not for bevel adjustment. if they are, they are useless. Other than that, it would be a perfect sub a 200-$150 slider. Slightly better quality than HF.

Used this saw extensively for a master bath re-do and it was great. Still can't figure out how to change the blade because the instructions are over my layman head.
