This may be a nice self-contained kit for learning to make balloon "things." What is shocking, is that there are no balloon animals! That's what most kids want. Of the eleven things this book teaches you to make, seven are in the "hats and sticks" category. Beyond those are a bracelet, fairy wings, a wreath and a bike. I'm very disappointed and will be returning this kit. Here is a list of the lessons so you can decide before purchasing:

I've never been disappointed in Klutz books and easily learned to juggle with their help as a pre-teen. Now as a dad, it seems I'm nearly as good as a clown, at least in terms of making balloon shapes. Highly recommended!

Klutz really makes wonderful easy to follow how-to books, and this is a great example. It takes you step by step and teaches you the basics. I would recommend this product.

Haven't really taken a lot of time to learn but in the couple times I worked on it, things went better than I thought while following the books instructions. Like that it comes with balloons and a balloon pump to fill them up. Not bad at all for the price.

The instructions are very well done, I just found it quite odd that there were no balloon animals to make. There were several hats & swords but no animals.

My husband got this book one week before our daughter's birthday party. Within that short time, he was able to create awesome balloon swords, crowns and hats for all the kids. People were saying he was like the Pied Piper, because everywhere he went he had several children following along behind him. Easy instructions and great pictures really helped him learn quickly!

I purchased this for my 9 year old and she loves it. She is able to do several of the less complex shapes. Her 11 yr old sister can put together the more complex balloon shapes. The pump appears to be good quality and we expect it to last a while. It has been 4 months now and it is still working well. This product exceeded my expectations. The kids love it! I would suggest purchasing an extra bag of balloons with this as well.

I got this book with pump and balloons for my little girl. The very first use the pump came apart and didn't work again. The O-Ring got pinched and stretched right off the bat. I would really encourage people to get the Pump that comes with the Rocket Balloons, as I had to after this one proved so shoddy. It cost me double to get this less expensive set. Buy a balloon book separated if needed.

This is a fairly cheap way to get your feet wet with balloon twisting. Surprisingly, the book does not contain instructions for any balloon animals.

Don't get discouraged if the balloons included with the books seem hard to work with. If you get some Qualatex balloons (recommended by many balloon professionals) you will find them thinner and more flexible. The better quality balloons are therefore easier to inflate, easier to tie, and easier to twist.

The pump included is also fairly cheap, and may not last too long. You'll probably want to get a better hand pump fairly soon.

My 9 yr old loved this! Easy to follow directions and create some great sculptures!
Like all other Klutz products, wish it had more balloons in package;)

Would definitely buy for a gift for someone over 7.
