Awesome book for learning how to yo!,
By tommyg@planetkc.com (Kansas City, Missouri) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Klutz Yo-Yo Book (Klutz S.) (Paperback)
I learned how to yo from this book. This is an excellent book. The best part about it is when it teaches you the little things like how to do the thumb wind-up. The yo-yo that comes with it is also one of the best fixed axles you can get! This book will teach a beginner how to yo better than anything short of a personal yo-yo tutor.

Still passes the test of time.,

A nice book of basic yo-yo tricks. This book has been around for a few years, which is a compliment to its fun presentation. The wood yo-yos that came attached to the original books now have some collectible value. Lucky Meisenheimer M.D. author of "Lucky's Collectors Guide to 20th Century Yo-Yos...History and Values"

Frustrating for a 9 yr old pefectionist,
By Lisa "boy mom" (Geneva, IL) - See all my reviews

My son loves doing yoyo, but these tricks are pretty challenging. He keeps trying and getting frustrated. He's learned to do 1 or 2 tricks. (A more patient kid may have better luck).

The tricks described in this book are listed in a well thought out progression so the newcomer can progress from one trick to the next and learn many of the techniques needed to go on to more advanced stuff. As well as tricks, the book gives an amusing history of the yo-yo, a fair bit of science and other just plain silly stuff. Really fun to read. The yo-yo which comes with the book is good - maybe not the best, but fine for the level the book is aimed at. I'll buy this for my nephews and neices when they are a couple of years older.

This book is perfect for a 9-year old boy. He started out not even knowing how to "up and down" with the yo yo, but he is now sleeping the yo yo and walking the dog after just a few hours of practice. The instructions are clear (definitely written geared toward children) and there are good pictures and troubleshooting tips. Typical Klutz -- perfect! It even comes with a yo yo attached to it, which I was not expecting, as an addded bonus. I definitely recommend this book for a 9 year old.

A great book by The Editors Of The Klutz Press. Has people that made the yo-yo famous, lots of great tricks, articles about the yo-yo. You can find out how it was made, what it was made for, and how it became popular and took the world by storm. It comes with a great yo-yo. The Klutz Rocket Yo-Yo is great for doing tricks and it has a long sleeper. -Brad Monroe

This is a good book if you are five years old. Unfortunately, most people who take interest in yo-yos for more than five minutes are not. The history is interesting and the pictures are o.k. But when people open a yo-yo book, they look for one thing, tricks. This book is not big on tricks. Anyone with a little bit of sense can complete these tricks with ease. Two tricks in the book are a bit challenging, but then again, why would you buy a yo-yo book for two tricks? I am a bit surprized because I also own the Klutz magic book and I really found that book enjoyable. Klutz could have done better

It is not very good at all for a good yoyoist.,

I am an ok yoyoist, I can do many tricks. I think for a beginner it might be ok. For me and many others it is useless. I think the pictures were very bad and it did not very well discribe the trick.
