Editorial Review
While this model will take a lot of focused, patient work to build, the rewards will be spectacular. Over 3 feet high when complete, and fashioned from 934 individual plastic pieces, this handsome replica of the Saturn V rocket--the one that launched the Apollo spacecraft into orbit--has three separating stages and a mini-Apollo craft at the top. There are two major structures: a launch tower and the rocket itself. Each individual part is color coded and snaps easily together with the others. The set comes with a rocket sound module that generates an amazingly real-sounding countdown sequence, as well as flashy NASA decals and an easy-to-follow instruction book. The set also builds the Ariane 5 rocket used to launch about half of the world's commercial satellites into orbit. Batteries included.
