3.0 out of 5 stars can't quite be sure where this is going, April 17, 2011

Although I really enjoyed the first Knight Angels book, I was less than thrilled with the sequel, mainly because it ended on such a random note and really wasn't a direction that seemed cohesive with the rest of the story. It actually reminds me a lot of the Feather series by the same author, because the first book was really interesting and had me really into it and then by the end of the second book I was nervous to read the third. I feel the exact same way this time and hope that things come back around in the next book. I am actually only assuming that there is going to be a third, as I haven't seen anything posted about it but the ending has absolutely no conclusion...sadly. I just don't feel I can safely rate this book for certain until I see where it goes and if it is a series I would recommend to anyone else. Is it enough to say that I will read the third to see if I am happily surprised? Not so sure that means the book is good, but it does mean I am optimistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book of Revenge, December 16, 2010
She did it again ... once more Abra Ebner shows and establishes the standard for extremely well execution in the self publishing industry. Narrated in different POVs just as its predecessor, Book of Revenge takes off where Book of Love ended. Our narrators reunite again with new conflicts, new and old enemies to defeat. This book could have been easily entitled Book of Secrets since every character's got one or another skeleton in the closet ready to be exposed and it's fascinating. In this presentation, a dimension to Abner's world is opened, which without a doubt, has an extensive frame regarding the supernatural and it's not limited to X or Y figures or its perception according to other literary references. The reader will know more about this world and can have an idea on how it and several rules will affect the characters. Narration works well, which is the biggest credit I can give Abner since the technique of different POVs is not easy to explore. Out of all this characters, Wess is my favorite. I'm pleased with the level he has reached and how he handles certain situations. It's refreshing while others crave for hot vampires or angels; I'm rooting for the crowd's shapeshifter. The Knight Angels series opens the door to a new proposal in the field of supernatural literature where the world is composed by many of the figures that makes us crave for this topic and the elements Abner uses to mold the story makes them hers. With great writing technique an its pace, it will leave you questioning what happened because of the turns it will take. Book of Revenge, where the supernatural world of our narrators will collide with their most feared secrets and their consequences.

4.0 out of 5 stars By BookWorm Teen, May 30, 2011

As one person tries to tear apart Jane, Emily, Wes and Max, they end
up tearing themselves apart. Although it seemed as though everything
was going to be okay, what happens is far from it. Max starts lying,
Emily is getting involved with the wrong crowd (again), Wes is still
fighting his feelings for Jane, and Jane should be dead already.

This book is equally as good as the first, and if you enjoyed the
first book, you will enjoy the second.

Wow!.. so much is going on in this second book. I have to say it took a bit to get back into it, but now I am completely once again sucked into the word that is KNIGHT ANGELS.

This is definitely character driven story telling, although I didn't feel as strong a connection to Jane this go around. I did find myself much more interested in Emily, as her and Wes grow as a couple and as individuals. We also get to see a previously minor character emerge to the forefront with some interesting supernatural gifts. I really enjoyed the unique spin Ebner has put on some of paranormal creatures, breaking from the classic stereo types we have come to expect from such creatures.

In BOOK OF REVENGE, we continue to get a much clearer view of who Max is and a deeper look into his past.. these details give us more insight and understanding into his connection with Jane. Along with the Max history lesson, we are introduced to Avery, the new sassy Villain in town and Max's jilted ex. Avery does not disappoint as every bit the cold calculating, vindictive and scorned woman out for revenge that nightmares are made of. Being just as beautiful as she is vengeful making her disturbingly dangerous.

This story that picks up right where BOOK OF LOVE leaves off, is full of interesting new tidbits and twists.. everything leading up a fantastic cliffhanger that left me craving more.. and so not happy that I know the next book wont be out for quite awhile. All in all, this sequel is very well done, with well rounded characters and a strong flowing storyline that keep the reader hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!!!!!!!, November 8, 2010

I bought this book the day it came out, but for some reason I was slow to pick it up and read it. I wasn't sure if I was ready to jump back into the land of multiple POV's. By the time I was on page 5, I was hooked. I thought I really loved Book One, so if that was love I am not quite sure what this is....This book was outstanding!!! By the end of the book I had to slow my pace down because I wasn't ready to say goodbye. I loved the new switch on Max and Avery, Wes and Laci, Jake.....Aw so much love for this author and book. Definitely my favorite Abra book. Actually my kids are standing behind me in my computer chair and my 3 year old just saw this book cover and said "mommy look! It's your favorite book! Just like the one by your bed"......I guess I could have just had my 3 year old dictate my review =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great follow-up!, October 27, 2010
The first installment in the Knight Angels series, Book of Love, fixated me as though I was under a spell. The follow-up, Book of Revenge awakened my admiration for Abra's delightful writing. Its visual storytelling quality and distinguished characters took me through the stages of a well-executed sequel. Before I start explaining the plot, nothing in this review spoils Book of Love, so if you are interested in reading the Knight Angels series, the twists and turns will come as a surprise. Continued in numerous narratives, I was once again engulfed in the lives of Max, Jane, Emily and Wes. Max and Jane's electrifying bond chilled my being with goose bumps and fear. Emily, first known as a rebel, had grown into an individual she was meant to be. Wes's unexpected power was clearly defined and its animalistic origin was brought to light. Finally, Greg, Max's evil angel brother, took a backseat while new creatures were welcomed into the mix.

Jake, an undercover vampire, contributed a new version of this species. His warm blooded skin and lack of immortality went against the norm, creating a sense of excitement. Another past enemy of Max's, Avery, took the villain role this time around. Her vengeful demeanor and dark attributes made me dislike her off the bat. The back story behind her attitude was stimulating but, also explained the reasoning behind her actions. The element I was most impressed with was the magically delicious world of Winter Wood. Abra's unique take on a pixie populated land was fun yet indicated the stem of all these unknown character abilities. The ending left me overwhelmed with questions and a cliffhanger that made me wish I had the third book in my hands! Overall, this installment was even better than the first. The maturity and growth in Abra's style showcased that she is a force to be reckon with. I look forward to experiencing the mysterious flow into the third book, hopefully coming soon!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read =), October 16, 2010
By
I was happy to meet again with this not-so-merry gang of teenagers for a second round. The events at the end of Book of Love changed them but they are far from being at the of the road, many more surprises awaits them along the way. This time, Max's past is coming back to hunt them and the threat won't stop until death comes.

I didn't feel the same connection I felt with Jane (seoul, she can predict people's deaths) in the first book but this encounter wasn't any less good. The characters we already know will learn more about themselves, their abilities and their past. I think Emily (Mind reader) was my favorite one, she changed so much and all for the best. Max (guardian angel) was the character that really got to me though, the things he will go through this time around are plain crazy and could break down anyone.

Abra also introduced 2 new characters to the story, Avery, a pixie from Max's past and Jake, a vampire. You'll find that the former's goals are rather bold, but the latter's are very shadowy.

The plot kept a steady pace, I would've loved a bit more action, but the main focus is the character's psychology and the end totally made up for it. Abra built up a crescendo of emotions and you find yourself seeking ways to reach a different ending. The end will stun you and I'm sure that like me, you'll want to know right away what happens next. I really can't wait to see how this bunch of teenagers will bounce back. Unfortunately we'll have to wait for a while, because the third book isn't written yet!
