So it looks like this book is out of print. What a shame.

I would not have known about this book if my 6 year-old son had not found it on the library shelf. I loved reading it so much, I decided to purchase my own copy: used, ex-library book, from one of Amazon's regular vendors.

The book itself is very much like my other favorite wonderful, also out of print, fairy tale book, The Plain Princess. The illustrations even have the similar feel to those in the Plain Princess (different illustrators, though).

Just full of great fairy tale details, some a teeny-weeny bit scary but not horrible, just the way fairy tales are supposed to be. Written with gentle and sweet thoughtfulness, filled with subtle sense of humor, and all around one of the best children's books I have ever read, ever.

(On a side note, I loved the previous review by the 8-year old reader. Tested and approved by someone in the target market, so to speak.)

I liked The Knight of the Golden Plain because it was mysterious and it also was great. I would give it 500 stars if I could. I am almost 8 years old.
