Book Description

Anya Gage has learned that to get anything good in life, you have to work for it. She has no expectations, no dreams.

Then she finds herself at a party where she doesn’t want to be and she meets Knight.

Knight Sebring knows who he is, what he wants and what he likes. And he gets it. But he never expected something as sweet as Anya Gage to wander into his bedroom during a party he did not expect to be having to borrow his phone.

Knight tries to leave Anya to the life she deserves of white picket fences and a man who watches football on Sundays – good, normal and clean. But when Anya comes to his nightclub and finds herself in a situation, he knows someone has to look after her, he can’t fight it anymore and he decides that man will be him.

Knight teaches Anya that, just as with the bad, in life you should also expect the good. And he teaches her this by giving it to her.

But Knight has a dark past and just as he desires Anya for exactly who she is, he fears when she finds out exactly the man he has become and always intends to be, she’ll leave him for good, normal and clean.

WARNING: This book is an ADULT EROTIC romance featuring an anti-hero. This novel contains explicit sex scenes and language. The hero in this novel lives a life by his own code with no apologies. He is not your "normal" hero. If you do not enjoy the above, this novel may not be for you.

About the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Indiana, but has lived in Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least), but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Knight, Smokin' Hot Read! April 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Let me start off by saying that erotic romance is something I love and I am so thrilled that one of my favorite romance authors has branched off into this genre.

One other thing - KA isn't hiding what this novel is - she says it right in the description that this book is erotic and portraying an anti-hero. It seems like those who reviewed negatively, at least some of them, ignored that or didn't read it in the description since those elements seemed to be what turned them off.

Now for the review. Oh. Em. Gee.

Knight is a man. A. MAN.

Anya? She's his woman. That means he's going to treat her how his woman ought to be treated. So will everyone else. End of story. Period.

Sounds like a typical KA hero, right? Right.

Well, here's the difference. Knight was born the kind of person that he is, grew up that way and mastered that way of life. And that person has darkness in him. He's accepted it and when I say there's darkness in him, I'm not talking just a troubled past (which he has) or taking on the tough stuff in life to protect others (which he has). I'm talking about innate, deep seated needs that he doesn't deny, hide or try to disguise as anything other than what they are. He's up front, honest and blunt about it to Anya from the beginning of their relationship.

If she can handle his needs, she gets everything in return. Anything. Whatever is in his power to make her happy.

And for Anya, someone who has had to earn everything in her life through hard work, who has never had anyone she could really depend on - it's almost too good to be true while at the same time being frightening and intriguing.

I won't go on from there - you have the description to see what the novel is about and you have other reviews you can read to get a broader picture of Knight.

For myself, I have to say that when some of my favorite erotic authors like Cherise Sinclair, Maya Banks, Leah Brooke or Laurann Dohner are between books, I end up branching out trying to find something to fill the time until their next masterpiece.

In Kristen Ashley, I'd found another author to add to my list of favorite romance authors. That I've been able to add her to my list of favorite erotic romance authors and have another series to look forward too is just the cherry on top.

I'm seriously looking forward to more from KA in this genre. :)

Knight is a sexy bad boy. I could not get enough of the love story between Anya and Knight. I love Knights controlling alpha male attitude I would call him "Daddy" any day of the week.

More About the Author

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing's changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

What to read after Knight?
I'm about half-way through Knight, and OMG.... Knight is my favorite kind of character--possessive, protective, and complete alpha male. Gabriel's Inferno has a similar male lead. There aren't really any hot sex scenes like Knight, but there's a lot of tension and sensuality. I thought... Read more
