Book Description

She was his sworn enemy...

Though the conquering Normans had taken his keep and his lands, Tedric of Woodrose swore he would wreak vengeance on those who had killed his father and kidnapped his sister. And he knew just the way. He would take his own captive — Amberlie de Fontaine, the brown-eyed Norman beauty who was now lady of his former keep. And once he had stolen her away, he would not scruple over stealing a fiery kiss or two from this dark and enchanting hostage...

He was her only desire...

Amberlie knew she should despise Tedric of Woodrose. After all, he had kidnapped her, and worse, it was almost certainly Tedric who had killed her husband in one of his many attempts to regain his land. But the tall, blond Saxon warrior was not the savage she had expected. And try as she might, it was not hate but passion she felt in his presence; passion that stirred her as never before. He had taken her by force, but she would give herself freely to the sweet ecstasy of his tempestuous embrace...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant Norman v. Saxon romance October 18, 2012
By SusieQ
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The plot of KNIGHT'S CARESS is an old-fashioned, Norman v. Saxon, "I hate you, dirty conqueror, but damn, you're attractive," plot, which is powered by some better-than-average plot twists and two likeable main characters. It's a particularly nice twist that, in this story, the Norman conquerors are the heroine Amberlie and her family; the dispossessed Saxon is not the female character (as so often happens in these romances) but rather the hero, Tedric - who ends up doing just about anything to get his 'keep' back.

Historical accuracy is sometimes casual (the name Amberlie, in 1066?) but not annoyingly so. KNIGHT'S CARESS is a competently written, enjoyable story which qualifies as a good read but misses being a 'keeper' for me, because it lacks the emotional power that a really excellent romance novel has. However, though the story is not going to stick in my head, it was a nice way to spend a few hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Enemy, My Love September 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
As long as Tedric the Barbarian roams free, Woodrose Keep isn't safe. Particularly in danger is Amberlie de Fontaine, a Norman beauty he vows to take as his desirable hostage. Her kidnapper is also the rogue that killed her husband. Amberlie's mother-in-law vows to avenge her son's death. An "other woman" in Tederic's life enjoys humiliating Amberlie. Born to be enemies, Tederic and Amberlie struggle against intense passions of hate, attraction, resentment, suspicion and other strong, tempestuous emotions that prevent her from enjoying true love. She discovers Tederic is far from the "barbarian" she once feared.

Amberlie learns how to rule her captor's soul, but not without plenty of obstacles along the way. A tale of high adventure, KNIGHT'S CARESS is a fast-paced, stirring medieval romance that's guaranteed to sweep readers back in time. If you like old castles and captives of passion, enemies and everlasting love, this romance is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Engaging yet predictable October 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Knight's Caress had a good plot line and interesting characters, but much of the story was predictable and the dialogue seemed rather forced at times. The ending was rather rushed, almost as if the author wanted to tie everything up quickly and all at once so they could have their "happily ever after." The book definitely would have benefited from some editing and more read-throughs to develop certain plot lines more. I enjoyed it but it's probably not one I would read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly wonderful read October 10, 2013

I really enjoyed this book. It had everything I needed in a book: likeable main characters, horrible villains, conflicts to make you grind your teeth and love scenes to make you bite your lips. Throughout the entire story, I could not help but cheer Tedric and Amberlie on as their love continued to grow, despite all obstacles. While the story did have odd grammar for me at times (lighted the fire, or speeded by on his gelding), it was not enough to warrant a lower rating for the overall story. I also noticed some words were used quite a bit (wanton comes to mind), but again, not enough for me to lower the rating. I thought this story was a wonderful read, and although I did figure out parts of the ending early on, I still thought it was enjoyable. I'd recommend this story for those that enjoy historical romances and also enjoy a spicy love scene.

This book was fairly predictable. The characters were fairly believable. I felt the author could have gone deeper into the relationship.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Read!!!! February 19, 2014
By yves
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My goodness, what a great book. This book is exactly what a Norman Conquest story should be. I have read alot of books from this era, but this one in particular was different because the roles were reversed. For example, instead of the hero being the Norman conqueror conquering the land of the heroine, instead, it was the defeated Saxon trying to gain back co his conquered lands. This was a brilliant scheme on the authors part. I would highly recommend this book, because it is filled with adventure, intrigue and as above all, hot romance. Kudos to Lynette Vinet, she has definitely become one of my favorite authors of Norm as n Conquest medieval romance. MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TYPES OF MEDIEVAL ROMANCE!!!
