Can this woman write!,
By
This review is from: Knights (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read two time-travel stories, PIRATES and KNIGHTS, both written by Linda Lael Miller. What an imagination the woman has! Fascinating stuff, fantasy with a fair amount of historic detail. I liked PIRATES slightly more than KNIGHTS, probably only because it was a somewhat less complex story, and within the complicated fantasy framework the reader needs to accept, it seemed to flow more easily. Still, I think that both of these novels are masterpieces within their genre, and I recommend them both heartily. Can this woman write!

My first Linda Lael Miller book,
By Blood Countess (Aberdeen) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knights (Mass Market Paperback)
Okay, I really enjoyed the story. It was fun, and you can't put it down. The only problem is that... it seems to me that the attraction and the longing between Dane and Gloriana is merely lust. I don't know, but it's just so not right. Besides, I really don't think Gloriana truly belonged to the 13th century. Just my humble opinion... and yeah, the story ended happily, so I guess I like that

Not one of Linda Lael Miller's best books/stories.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Knights: A Novel (Hardcover)
I find the story line a bit disjointed and impersonal....Ms. Miller's books are often centered around characters one can identify with. Megan/Gloriana seems superficial...more preoccupied with sex than with character. It is quite difficult to explain her attraction to her husband. (I read this book today and cannot recall the name of her husband).

Wonderful, Enchanting Story!,

This review is from: Knights (Audio Cassette)
Knights from author Linda Lael Miller was one of the best audiobooks I have listened to. I felt so sorry for poor little Megan the sweet little girl who was abandonded by her selfish, uncaring parents, but then Megan stepped through the magical gate and was transported to medieval England and finally found a loving and caring family and they changed her name to Gloriana and she was wed to Dane and even though he didn't have feelings for her at first you know it wouldn't be long before he fell for the beautiful, sweet Gloriana. There were some things in the audio book I personaly found to be too explicit but I still liked the rest of it.

Glorianna's Knights, Wonderful,
By A Customer
This review is from: Knights (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first Linda Lael Miller novel, and I found it extrodinary. This coincidentlly was my introduction to romance literature. I felt the character of Dean St. Gregory was a strong and very masculin man. And it was easy to see why Glorianna fell in love with him, who wouldn't be? The theme of time travel I found was not as appealing as the rest of the novel, however it did add some depth and sponatanaiety to the story line. Combined with the gallantry of the knights and castles of the 13th century, and the colourfulness of the characters. This is a great novel for an introduction to Romance.

After reading Lael Miller's "Pirates", which was a lot of fun, I wanted more of the time-travel theme. I found that I actually enjoyed "Knights" even more. I'm looking forward to reading more of Miller's books.

Not the best but I couldn't put it down till the end!,

This book is the first Linda Lael Miller's work I read. I loved time-travel theme and Ms Miller did a nice job for this plot. However, while reading it, I ,sometimes, felt a bit bored. The story started out good and interesting. A little girl named Megan time-travelled to medieval England and was raised by a rich merchants. She was given a new name, Gloriana. At the age of seven, Gloriana was married to the fifth baron of Kenbrook. Thirteen years later, Kenbrook returned home after battle. In stead of coming back to claim his bride, he brought a french beauty back with him and intended to annul his marriage. With a lot of help from brother and sister-in-law, Gloriana finally won her husband's heart. I enjoyed this part of the book greatly. However, the story after this part telling about Gloriana's time-travel back to modern day world. This part of the book is a bit confusing, specially, the same plot was repeated twice (time-travel back and forth). Because of this, it makes this book a bit less appealing. Although all the flaws indicated above, I found myself couldn't put this book down until the end. Well, this tells you something, doens't it? So, If you need something for a stress-free day, pick up this book and enjoy.

When I frist rea this book I was 14, and it shows. I loved it then, but upon rereading:
The characters are only barely developed. There is no romance. It's filled with raunchy sex. Te Main female, Glorianna, seems a bit of a Mary Sue to me, considering the fact that everyone around her falls in love with her, or finds her irresistable. Including the woman her husband brings home to marry. There are so many details of her personality that are brought up to make her likeable and never touched on again. I found myself skimming the happenings repeatedly. I'm not suprised that Ms. Miller all but abandoned the whole Time Travel genre and stuck to Modern day Cowboys. Although this book will probably stay on my shelf, because I have fond memories of thinking I like it, there is the possibility that when we move, it may get donated to the local library because I won't want to cart it across the country. All in all, If you like your novels for the graphic sex, and back and forth plot, then you will enjoy it. But if you want character development, gripping plot, romance, and intriguing characters, then this one isn't for you.

A most enjoyable timetravel romance.,

This exciting tale of a childs rescue, her later romance and separation from her husband Dane St. Gregory was intriguing to say the least. The unwilling time-travel of Gloriana and the lovers apart keeps one in suspense throughout the book. You won't want to put it down until the end

OK - Not great.,
This review is from: Knights (Mass Market Paperback)
Didn't start like a time travel at all & some things struck me as not essential to the story. I couldn't grasp the characters, Dane wasn't likealble at first - even in a good 'bad' way. Gloriana was introduced as a tomboy which was not even a part of her character throughout the rest of the book. Took awhile to get to know the couple. It finally got interesting and I managed to finish it.
