Book Description

When Edouard de Lanceau, son of Moydenshire's great Lord Geoffrey de Lanceau, finds an unconscious wounded woman lying in a river, he's shocked to recognize Lady Juliana de Greyne, to whom he was once almost betrothed. The previous year, his bet with a friend to win her kiss went awry, and the commitment to her never proceeded. When Juliana's sister deceived him into betrothing her instead, Edouard became honor-bound to wed her; yet he still desires Juliana. Taking her in his arms, he vows to discover who would want her dead—and why.

While riding to an important meeting on behalf of his ill father, Edouard must face Lord Geoffrey's enemies, who have returned to Moydenshire to destroy him. Taken prisoner and chained in a tower, Edouard must fight not only for his life but for Juliana's as well. When Juliana wakes, she has no memory of who she is or what happened to her. She only knows she's captive in a chamber alongside a man in chains who insists he knows her.

For reasons unknown, her feelings for this stranger run strong. Were they once lovers, or is he a cold-blooded killer? Determined to regain her memories and know the truth, Lady Juliana discovers that nothing can vanquish love or the power of a knight's persuasion.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

A promising match turns into a bitter misunderstanding when young Edouard de Lanceau makes a bet to steal a kiss from Juliana de Greyne, his potential betrothed, and is forced to confess his actions were a ruse. Years later, though more tender feelings still lie beneath the surface, fate conspires to keep them apart when Edouard is tricked into a betrothal by Juliana’s sister Nara. However, when Juliana is attacked and loses her memory, Edouard finds her still alive, and dares to hope at a chance to make amends. Kean continues the sword-wielding adventures first told in A Knight’s Vengeance (2006) and A Knight’s Temptation (2009), delivering more of her winning brand of medieval lore kissed with Hollywood drama, and complete with the return of the diabolically over-the-top Veronique. Readers will root for the intrepid couple, and take with them a warm feeling at the conclusion of this sweet romance. --Nina C. Davis

A damsel in distress and a rogue who isn't quite what he seems. This is the story of A Knight's Persuasion.

I'm normally not much into historicals because I like stories with a spicy angle. This story goes against the grain for me in a good way. Catherine Kean's method of storytelling drew me in immediately, making me want to know what was going to happen next. I started A Knight's Persuasion and in a matter of hours, had it finished, not wanting it to end. Ms. Kean writes in such a fashion that I felt like I was right there next to Edouard and Juliana.

Edouard isn't the man he seems and it's a great change of pace. I liked Juliana's pluck. There is a sizzle of unspoken passion between them, even early on that I wanted to see work out. I found myself rooting for them over and over.

But just when I thought I had the story figured out, Ms. Kean threw in a curveball that kept me on my toes. The subplot is complicated, but makes the tale rich. I loved that Edouard's family couldn't make things easy for him and Juliana, making both characters relatable. The antagonist, though mean and nasty, enriches the plot, making me want to read more.

If you want a story that will stay with you long after the last page and characters that feel like your friends, then you need to read A Knight's Persuasion.

A Knight's Persuasion by Catherine Kean
Medieval Historical Romance - May 1, 2010
5 Stars

A Knight's Persuasion is the forth book in Catherine Kean's Knight Series about medieval knights and the ladies that they fall for.

A Knight's Persuasion tells the story of Edouard de Lanceau son of Moydenshire's great Lord Geoffrey de Lanceau who while riding to an important meeting on behalf of his ill father, finds an unconscious woman lying in the river. He is shocked to discover its Lady Juliana de Greyne, the woman he was once almost betrothed to. Despite an unfortunate incident that put an end to any betrothal between the two families, he has never forgotten Lady Juliana. After finding her, he is compelled to protect her when they both are put in danger. His father's enemies will do anything to destroy them and Edouard vows that he will do anything needed to protect Lady Juliana. The story includes a very interesting subplot involving Edouard's father and his enemies led by a woman who was once his mistress but who now seeks to destroy him and all he holds dear.

Catherine Kean does a fabulous job of creating characters with an interesting and remarkable past which makes them fascinating to read about. Edouard and Lady Juliana are both characters that are both very attractive characters in heir own, but become even more compelling as they are forced together and must rely on each other for their very lives. I really liked how both Edouard and Lady Juliana experienced normal failures that made them more human and appealing to read. Edouard is someone I could easily relate to. I also enjoyed the subplot stories that involve Edouard's father's enemies. These characters definitely had a past which made their lives a rich and multi-layered read.

One of the great things about Catherine Kean's knight series is that they can all stand alone but if you want to increase your enjoyment you should read all the books in this series! For anyone who loves romance and enjoys a grand story involving exciting and well written historical elements you will love this latest novel in Catherine Kean's knight series.
