Knights in Shining Armor: In Love and War, August 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Knights in Shining Armor: In Love and War (Paperback)
Aubrey Sher's KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOR-IN LOVE AND WAR is a novel that definitely rates 5 stars. I just had to write my own review on this magnificent book because I was literally forced by my husband to read it after he finished it. I am an avid reader, but my preferences lie in romance novels and science fiction. Therefore, Sher's book did not seem to be the kind of book I would want to read. My husband persuaded me to read the first three chapters and then to decide whether or not I wanted to continue. Not only did I continue but I could not put it down and six hours later I completed my reading. I was totally absorbed in the book, despite the military language and the battle experiences so vividly described by Mr. Sher, which to my surprise I found very interesting. My favorite part of the book was Chapter 11, the main character's romantic experience with Youmi on R&R, a beautiful Japanese girl with whom he falls deeply in love. The climax of this experience is amazingly bizarre. I believe women will enjoy the book as much as men. Although the court martial episode might be too melodramatic to some, I thought the book was terrific and will begin my second read of it this week.

"Knights in Shining Armor" - Korea Vets Are Not Forgotten, July 1, 2003

Besides being a great story, this book gives a good perspective on the war that not only Americans who lived through it could appreciate, but also younger folks too. I highly recommend it.

A Must-Read for Korean Veterans and their Families, September 28, 2009
This review is from: Knights in Shining Armor: In Love and War (Paperback)
This well written novel has all the elements of a potential best seller. The author obviously is a veteran of the Korean conflict (the forgotten war),and writes with a style that is readable, enjoyable, and, sometimes, hair-raising. I recommend it highly to all readers in order to increase their knowledge of this "conflict" which was one of the deadliest and costliest to our service men and women and to our country.
