5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome album!!!
I saw A Knight's Tale on opening night last Friday and I imediately knew that I had to get the soundtrack! It is so great, especially songs like "The boys are back in town", "We Will Rock You", and "Eye Conquerer", by Third Eye Blind. If your having second thoughts about getting this CD, then Don't. 3.0 out of 5 stars Where's the music?
I was disappointed that there was not more of the original music on this "soundtrack". The popular songs are great and really fun to listen to, however, I was looking forward to hearing the great pieces composed specifically for the movie. The most disappointing absentee is the beautiful segue from the traditional dance to Golden Years. This was particularly...

4.0 out of 5 stars Knight's Music Rocks!, May 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: A Knight's Tale (Audio CD)
The soundtrack for "A Knight's Tale" is really great. I saw the movie the other night, and I loved the 70s rock music that was played throughout the film. The music is upbeat and positive and keeps you in a funky mood all day! If you like Queen, David Bowie, and other great rock performers of the 70s and 80s, then you'll love this soundtrack. Songs like "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" get you energized and pumped, and they're great to listen to in your car or while you're working out. "Low Rider" is a fun song to play on your stereo, as are all the other songs on this cd. Overall, I think "A Knight's Tale" soundtrack is a great cd, and I recommend it to everyone, especially those who have seen the movie. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, September 9, 2001
This review is from: A Knight's Tale (Audio CD)
I saw this movie in the theater. Throughout the entire movie, I found myself singing the words to all the songs throughout the different scenes. I was not only awed by the movie itself, but the music playing in the background. A lot of the time the music was the main part of the scene.... two words "Golden Years." I have to say that was my favorite part of the movie. The day after seeing this movie, I went and bought the CD. I have listened to it thousands of times! I just can't get enough! Who doesn't love the classics such as "We Will Rock You", "The Boys Are Back in Town", "Further on Up the Road", and I think pretty much everyone loves "Low Rider." This CD not only has those great classics, but some newer songs, like Third Eye Blind's "Eye Conqueror." It also has a great cut of "We Are the Champions" with Robbie Williams + Queen. So if you loved the movie... or haven't seen the movie yet. Go out and get the CD. You'll love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Soundtrack for a Great Film, May 16, 2001
This review is from: A Knight's Tale (Audio CD)
First of all, I LOVE this movie for two reasons: (1) it is set in my favorite time period; and (2) the message it brings to young people is both timeless and timely, i.e., if you have the right stuff, you can be anything you want to be and "change your stars" if you act with integrity and don't give up. Therefore, I give the CD four stars for being associated with the movie.

Now, to the soundtrack CD. I won't address the daring decision to blend rock hits with a period film because it was a creative and effective idea (in my opinion), which should be applauded. The soundtrack, however, is a little limited, disappointing and doesn't truly exemplify the complete range of musical diversity contained within the film.

This CD is all rock and roll, which is great. My problem with it is that it does not contain any of the beautiful theme music that was heard in between the rock hits. This could have been included by just omitting the "bonus tracks", which weren't in the film anyway and are irrelevant.

So, I have to concur with the Amazon review that this CD is primarily designed to boost profit margins. While exciting images of the film will instantly come to mind with songs like, "We Will Rock You", I think putting a little more thought into the compilation of songs could have set it further apart from any other "Hits of the 70's" album.

I won't go into the previously released songs like Bowie's "Golden Years" since most everyone has heard them already.Instead I'd like to focus on 2 of the 3 new songs."We Are the Champions" is a new version of the classic rock anthem sung by Robbie Williams and backed by the surviving members of rock legends Queen. It begins with a William Orbit-style "spacey" sound which gives a fresh coat of paint to a song originally written in 1977.Naturally the chorus is identical to the original and Williams does a surprisingly good job filling Freddie Mercury's very large shoes. Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen continue to shine as musicians here. May provides us with a new guitar solo which fits in perfectly and Taylor's able drumming sets the stage for a rousing sing-a-long."Pieces" by Dan Powell is a real gem. A surprisingly warm and heartfelt ballad. When listening, I pictured a pair of lovers at night with one gently singing the song to the other. Very moving but not in the sappy 70's vein, more like an Oasis ballad sung by Noel Gallagher and NOT Liam (think "Don't Look Back In Anger".)The soundtrack is worth a purchase based on these 2 songs alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely a great soundtrack, May 14, 2001
This review is from: A Knight's Tale (Audio CD)
Plain and simple, this soundtrack is awesome. If you've seen the movie (which I encourage you to do) you can pinpoint the parts when each of these songs comes into play. Most of them are songs that we all know and love, but don't seem to have in our collection like "Low Rider" and "Get Ready". Plus, I love the dancing scene in the movie, so whenever I hear David Bowie's "Golden years", all I can think about is Heath Ledger slinking around. It's definitly worth the money!!

Whether you like the movie or not, you will love the soundtrack. If you are a classic rock lover, get this CD. The CD features 13 songs. 12 are all time hits from the `60s & `70s with a couple of current songs from the present generation of current performers. The 13th song Third Eye Blind "Eye Conqueror" is a bonus track that is not featured in the movie. Where can you go wrong with this CD when you have "I Want To Take You Higher" (Sly & The Family Stone)/"Golden Years (David Bowie)/"Get Ready" (Rare Earth)/"The Boys Are Back In Town" (Thin Lizzy) and "Low Rider (War) plus Eric Clapton, Heart & Queen and others.

A excellent movie in the light comedy/romance style of "Princess's Bride" and the modernisms of "Hercules". As to the sound-track for a rock-track it was good, but really needed the score. I thought the score was one of the best I've heard in a while. Oh well, I'll just go listen to "taking care of business" again till I can go see it again for the 4th time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, May 12, 2001

This review is from: A Knight's Tale (Audio CD)
I saw the movie "A Knight's Tale" and was completely blown away by how outstanding it was. It inspired me to immediately run out and by this soundtrack, which reflects the movie and everything else in it so well. My personal favorites are the remake of Queen's "We Are the Champions", with Robbie Williams stepping in with lead vocals, and Third Eye Blind's "Eye Conqueror." The 1970s music was the IDEAL touch to this outstanding film, and I highly recommend it, just as I do the movie itself! You will NOT be disappointed!
