I was hopeful purchasing this book, as I was looking forward to having different patterns of slippers. Honestly, the majority (4 designs) that cover your feet are actually socks knitted in heavy weight yarn. The other slipper patterns barely cover the top of your feet, which I wonder what the point of wearing these type of slippers is in the first place. I have to say that if it cost more, I would have sent the book back, but what caught my attention first off is the slipper design on the front cover. Rather than spend $4 to ship it back, I've considered this design to be worth the $8, although if I had a do-over I wouldn't have purchased this book.
On the plus side the instructions are easy to follow...

Good book for fun slippers. I find the patterns are a little off, meaning when I knit up the slippers, they were often huge, the large size would be for bigfoot, so once I made everything in a small, it was great. The slippers don't take long to make and they use the same techniques for more than one slipper which is nice.

This book is simply written, beginning and advanced knitters alike will find something they like for a quick project. The instructions are easy to follow. Adding personal touches such as ribbons, pearls, buttons can really add a nice touch for gifts. My favorite is pictured on the front cover. I have made several of these for gifts and with embellishment no two have been alike.

In my fast-paced, tech-fueled life with instant messaging, pictures, check-ins, and vast information at my fingertips, there are moments when all I want to do is sit down and knit a dozen plus slippers.

I called my great-great-grandmother on the phone, but since she is hard of hearing, I had to drive to the assisted-living building to show her this book. With supplies in hand (hers), we sat down and lost a weekend creating such hits as Mary Janes and Mitered Square Cuff socks.

Little did I know that she would start a small business selling dozens and dozens of knitted slippers. Amazingly, she farmed out the labor and made a little, but too much money; no longer qualifying for Medicaid assistance.

She now lives with me. I no longer like knitting.

I bought this hoping I could find a slipper pattern that covered more of the foot, and the only pattern in this book that does is in Men's sizes but I suppose I could alter it. This book has three slipper sock patterns which disappointed me because these are easily found on the web for Free, so that lost it a star right there. The slippers are cute but not my style, I want to keep my feet warm so I'll have wear socks with most these patterns and that lost it another star. The patterns included in this book are:
Children's Red Sports Car Slippers, Children's little mary jane slippers, children's ballet slippers (these have the ties that go up your legs and are pictured on the cover), Women's Fair Isle Boots (long slipper sock pattern), Women's Ballet Flats, Women's Beaded Moccasins, Women's Mary Jane Slippers, Women's Lacy Toe Up Slipper Socks, Men's Ribbed Toe-up Slipper Socks, Women's Cable Clog Slippers, Women's Mitered Square Scuffs, Unisex Ruggedly Warm Loafers (on book cover), Men's Easy Zip Slippers.
Children's sizing all with a 5-6 inch foot circumference are: small 8-10 shoe and 6" foot length, medium 11-13 shoe size and 7" foot length, and large 1-3 shoe and 8" foot length; Women's sizing all with a 7-8" circumference are: small 5-7 shoe size and 9" foot length, medium 8-10 shoe size and 10" foot length, large 11-13 shoe size and 11" foot length; men's /unisex sizing all with 9-10" foot circumference are: small 7-9 shoe size and 10" foot length, medium 10-12 shoe size and 11" foot length, large 13+ shoe size and 12" foot length .
I have yet to make anything from this book so I am not sure how good the instructions are concerning mistakes and clarity. The patterns themselves rate from easy to intermediate. Hopefully all of this information will help other shoppers make an informed decision on to buy or not to buy.

I found the slippers to be cute and look good for men, women, and children. The instructions, however, are written in a way that is hard to follow; ie, the wrap and turn instructions. I think all the patterns incorporate this stitch, but it is not explained well. I'm having to look at videos from Youtube to see how to do the stitch. Otherwise, I love the book.
