Can't review too long...I need to start knitting...,

I have been a long time reader of cosymakes blog, and I have been waiting for this book since she first announced it. I received it this morning, and it is beautiful. The work here is wonderful, I didn't see a pattern that I didn't want to make. This is the accessory book that will keep me knitting for a long time to come.

Hoped for more,
This review is from: Knit One, Embellish Too: Hats, Mittens And Scarves With A Twist (Paperback)
I love to knit small accessories, and hoped that this book would have some nice patterns. But, after flipping through it, there was really nothing new here. I didn't even think the embellishments were that great--nothing that I would need to buy a whole book for.
I give it 3 stars, though, because of the wonderful section on how to recycle yarn from sweaters. I already knew how to do this, but had to figure it out by trial and error. I wish I could have read this section before I started. It would have saved a lot of time. If you area really interested in embellishing your knits, get a copy of Nicky Epstein's "Knitted Embellishments". There will be plenty there to keep you busy for a very long time.

I loved this book,
This review is from: Knit One, Embellish Too: Hats, Mittens And Scarves With A Twist (Paperback)
As a knitter and spinner who makes alot of hats, and one who unravels thrifted sweaters for it's yarn, I feel that this book was written just for me! There are great tips for recycling yarn, (I even learned a new trick), and alot of fresh patterns for uniquely shaped hats for all sized heads and accessories to knit and embellish.
I have alot of books in my collection, but in the few short weeks that I have had this book, I have looked at it more than some I have in my collection for years.

I love this book! The patterns are adorable, easy-to-understand, and won't break the bank! They work with or without the embellishments, which are totally adorable too! Cosette's patterns and knitted items always stand out from the crowd with their originality and playfulness.

This book is phenomenal! The author really took her time explaining everything. The patterns are gorgeous and simple, which I love. It doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful! The section on recycling sweaters is worth buying the book for alone. The instruction is clear. I am a person who needs VERY DETAILED instructions, and this worked so well for me. I've recycled 3 sweaters in the last 24 hours (including buying the sweaters down to hanging up the finished yarn to dry!) with excellent results.
Can't wait to knit a pattern with my "new" yarn! Thank you, Cosy, for a GREAT book!

I have followed Cosette (Cosy) for several years on Flickr and have marveled at her use of recycled and handspun yarns and her creative use of button and embroidery on her knits. She has a lovely and simplistic vision; her knits are unique, special, and not mass-produced. The book is all about accessories, with the largest portion devoted to her signature hat styles. I loved the mix of adult and child patterns and the clear instructions with photographs and charts on how to do the embroidery that makes the knitted item so special.
This is a suitable book for beginning knitters, as well as for more experienced fiber-lovers who want to make lots of gifts or to use a special handspun yarn.

Personality Plus,

Love this book. The knits are simple but cosy (as appropriate to Cosette's nickname) and thanks to the thrifted and handspun yarn, full of personality. There are lots of hats and other headgear and several gloves and neckwear. I probably won't add the mostly-embroidery embellishments suggested, with the exception of the well-placed button or two, but it is inspiring to see what placing your original stamp on a knitted item can do to raise the appeal of a simple design.

This book is full of fun little projects. I'm a knitting newbie and the patterns are easy to follow and super cute. The shapes of the hats are interesting, not your normal beanies. When I gain a bit more skill I can see myself using these patterns as a base to develop my own projects. The style of embellishment is really quite cool and flexible- this book is a great place to start to get the creative juices flowing!
