Very well done,
By Faina Goberstein (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knit So Fine (Paperback)
This book is done with a great taste and in a very mild manner. First almost 10 pages are devoted to yarn analysis: thick versa thin. It is a very convincing explanation. It is supported by photos that compare the look of seams, among other things, on different weight yarns. The thin yarn always wins. If you are not a fan of thin yarn yet, after looking through this book, you will. Tips and techniques section is easy to read. Then you are in for a real treat. All projects are beautifully knitted. The yarns are chosen very well to convey the thought behind the design. I will definitely love to make these garments. I highly recommend this book.

Ever buy a book for one pattern? Guilty!,
By
This review is from: Knit So Fine (Paperback)
I had flipped this book and decided I wasn't interested since I hate wrap sweaters and knitted skirts. Some of the other things were sweet but not remarkable. I paged through one more time and then ...ACK!... I was bitten by the Anemone Beret. The pattern is lovely. The stitch looks like Broomstick Lace (crochet) but it IS knit. Long story short, bought the book and have made 3 of these berets. A four hour search of my Barbara Walker books found the stitch but I'd have never remembered it in this way. Kudos to Myers and Sulcoski (I think she did the beret pattern) for reeling me in!

So many Fine Designs,
By Carol (Surrey, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knit So Fine (Paperback)
I love this book! There is a time and place for chunky yarns but too many books are dedicated to them. The authors here have responded to the need for timeless and classic designs with a little flair. Skinny yarns are versatile and, as the book explains, flattering on so many figure types. I'll be making many of them! Well done!!

Knit so Fine? Nothing to it,
By knittepirlgrrl (pittsburgh, pa, usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knit So Fine (Paperback)
This promising title was one big disappointment. Designs were almost completely lacking in creativity, and often resembled attenuated Eighties' nightmares. The very things fine yarns can do--unusual lace, colorwork, etc--are largely absent. Instead the authors feature bland, fine yarn T shirt like garments that would look no different if made by machine. The Kimono Top, Lace Stole, and Bamboo Skirt were beautiful wearable exceptions that made the most of fine yarns' stitch definition. A knitting book not worth the $$ for the few better patterns.

Sophisticated, quality patterns,
By BekahKnits (Utah USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knit So Fine (Paperback)
I saw this book in the local book store and intend to buy it soon. The designers did a superb job of bringing quality and sophistication in the "chunky, funky, teeny-bopper" trend that seems to be popular now.
I also like that the patterns seem to hug a woman's body in all the right places. (And not just because all the models are 16yrs old like in other books.)These are patterns for a woman's body. The dress pattern is quite lovely, not hippy-ish like so many knitted dresses seem to look. It's a wrap dress and drapes nicely. "Patterns knitted like they used to" is the phrase that comes to mind, with the european-inspired attention to detail America seems to have lost track of. Kudos to them for bringing it back!

Elegant designs,
By
This review is from: Knit So Fine (Paperback)
The designs in this book are classic and elegant. There are several that will never be out of style and therefore worth the effort. The patterns are user friendly. Almost all of them come with specific notes that are informative and time-saving. There is also good information about working with fine yarns and avoiding the frustration of how long it takes to knit the garment. I am glad I purchased it.

Fine Gauge Knitting is So Fine,

I love this book for the ideas and the gauge information for fancy patterned knits. I would much prefer to work with fingering than with bulky yarns and there are very few collections in books for fingering, so this was a pleasant surprise. I usually don't follow any particular pattern wholly, but end up designing my own adaptations. This book will be no different for me, but there are some nice ideas and this is a welcome addition to my library.

For All Fans of lace and sport-weight yarn,

I love to knit with fine yarn. I can't see what all the hype is about chunky yarn except that people want to get something done quickly with the least amount of effort. Hence, all the 'do it in one weekend' books. I expect there will soon be a 'knit a sweater in two hours' book.
I'm of the sort of knitter that believes in savoring the stitch, the hand of the yarn and that time is required to create something beautiful. I never knit anything with needles larger than a size 9 U.S. I prefer to knit with a size 6 U.S. or smaller. This book has a wonderful selection of patterns in sport-weight and lace yarn. Needle sizes are generally for 6 U.S. and smaller. There is a pattern to suit all tastes and recommendations for all types of yarns: silk, alpaca, merino, etc. I have read this book 2 or 3 times and am savoring it. There are at least 2 projects I want to make as soon as I finish my UFO's (unfinished objects). Isn't this the plight of all knitters? We just get carried away with all we want to knit and there just isn't enough time. This book is an impetus to make that time, to create at least one of the beautiful patterns included in the collection.

Got this book for a skirt pattern.,

I saw a skirt pattern on raverly.com and had to have this book. There are other beautiful patterns in it as well but this book is not for the new knitter. These patterns are beautiful but use small knitting needles and take time to produce. Great for the seasoned knitter and the beginner who wants a challenge. Worth the money.

Inspired to knit almost every pattern,
By Barbara Brown (Gibbons, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knit So Fine (Paperback)
The information in the front on working with fine yarn is what lead me to buy this book. I was so pleased that the patterns were well worth the $$ as well! I will eventually knit every design in here, either for myself or my DILs. Something for every taste here. And such a relief to find patterns that aren't written for 3 sts. to the inch.
