GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT!,

The patterns in this little book are as scrumptious as the real thing but pretty easy to follow. I'm making the birthday cake first for a friend and it's basically knitting a stockinette stitch box, stitching and stuffing it and then embellishing it with some easy "piped icing" trim and a few beads and french knots and then stuffing it. It does call for cardboard inserts in addition to regular poly or wool stuffing but I'm going to try it without cardboard first. I just know everyone likes to pick up and squeeze soft knitted items and if you squeeze cardboard I'm worried my cake will have a dent in it! A tray of these yummies under a glass dome would make a gorgeous centerpiece, and they'd be lovely hanging from the branches of a Christmas tree or garland.

This is a great book for a beginner knitter like me. The cakes are simple to make. The majority use size 3 needles, but there are a few that require double pointed needles. I'm going to start with the birthday cake and then make the cherry pie for my daughter. The cakes are so cute!

This little book has some very cute and imaginative projects in it, which I think are perfect for a special gift. If you know someone who has it all, these patterns will help you to make them something very special. Good instructions, nice photos. If it had US specifications as well as UK, I would have given it 5 stars. Yes, I can do the conversions. No, I don't like to!

Absolutely gorgeous little book to inspire any knitter. Make a slice of wedding cake, cherry pie, Viennese whirl, carrot cake, lemon meringue pie, muffin, Swiss roll, cupcake, fruit tart and a gorgeous birthday cake complete with candle. My favorite is the iced doughnut with bugle beads for hundreds and thousands. Although some designs are for knitting on 4 needles, I have made a couple on 2 and just sewn them up and got a perfectly ok result. NB I made a knitted chocolate gateau for a Muslim friend who was fasting during Ramadan and she loved it!
