I use this handy purse size pamphlet nearly every day in my yarn shop. Great for estimating yarn amount for common items without having to dig around a bunch of patterns, I especially like that it gives amounts for a number of common stitches per inch, for each size which helps when making substitutions. I never travel without it. I also rely on the companion crochet pamphlet. The Crocheter's Handy Guide to Yarn Requirements

An absolute "must have" for knitters, as is the companion Crocheter's Handy Guide for crocheting enthusiasts. Indispensible, full of the information you need to make buying decisions. Take it to the store with you, put it in your craft bag, lend it to no one! They won't want to give it back. I've given several as gifts to other crafters and they love it as well.

This is a tri-fold laminated pamphlet that makes selecting yarn incredibly easy. You choose the item you're knitting (scarf, sweater, socks, mittens, etc.), the gauge and item size and the chart will show approximately how much yarn (in meters and yards) you'll need to complete the project.
This item works well with The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns: Basic Designs in Multiple Sizes & Gauges by Ann Bud as the items correspond to the pamphlet.
