Book Description

October 13, 2005
So long, bulky pattern books! Farewell, crinkled photocopies! Knitting to Go makes it a cinch to knit in trains, planes, and automobiles, at church, at school, bellied up to the bar . . . wherever you find your crafty self. Inside this portable deck you'll find 25 patterns that run the gamut from chic (Circle Wrap or Mohair Hoodie) to gifty (Baby Blocks and the Men's Sweater) to homey (Cozy Throw Blanket and Chenille Pillow). Each card is easy to use, with step-by-step directions and a beautiful color photograph of the finished project.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality and Convenience, September 23, 2006
This review is from: Knitting to Go Deck: 25 Chic and Easy Patterns (Cards)
This deck of knitting pattern cards is convenient and handy - knitters can easily tuck the 4x6-inch pattern cards into a project bag instead of hassling with copy print outs, or larger books. The patterns themselves range from simple beginner blankets and scarves, and move into more detailed garment patterns, each labeled with a level of difficulty in the top right corner.

The deck is a perfect place for a beginning knitter to start making accessories and garments. For a more ambitious and/or experienced knitter, the deck offers a starting point to experiment with textures, lace, and advanced techniques with simple constructions and lines.

While I love this deck and have already made 2 items from it, I have only one complaint: I wish the cards included schematic drawings and measurements of the knitwear. One can knit without them, but schematics are a good visualization tool that many knitters use quite frequently.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners and experts alike!, December 29, 2007
This review is from: Knitting to Go Deck: 25 Chic and Easy Patterns (Cards)
I think that this is a really novel idea, as the patterns are portable and do not get destroyed easily. The instructions are great for beginners and it has more complicated patterns for the more learned as well.

The only downside to this is that half of it is baby patterns. While I think it's good to gear the patterns towards any knitter, I think that baby patterns are geared towards a certain group. Having half the deck consist of baby patterns really limits a knitter if they are trying to make things for themselves and friends (without babies.) Of course there should be some baby patterns in there...but there should be a mittens pattern for adults as well and more hats/accessories that aren't holiday related. I would love to make a earflap hat...but not one that looks like a pumpkin!

5.0 out of 5 stars Plain English, patterns on cards, make easy toting and use, April 19, 2006
This review is from: Knitting to Go Deck: 25 Chic and Easy Patterns (Cards)
Kris Percival puts together over twenty easy knitting patterns in KNITTING TO GO: 25 CHIC AND EASY PATTERNS - but there's more to this than the usual book format: KNITTING TO GO holds the patterns on cards which feature easy step-by-step instructions in English rather than the usual knitter's abbreviations. This serves two purposes: it's a snap to select a card/project and use it on the fly, and it is much more inviting to newcomers to knitting. Add a lovely color photo of finished results on each card and you have a truly unique, appealing set.
