Quality and Convenience,

This review is from: Knitting to Go Deck: 25 Chic and Easy Patterns (Cards)
This deck of knitting pattern cards is convenient and handy - knitters can easily tuck the 4x6-inch pattern cards into a project bag instead of hassling with copy print outs, or larger books. The patterns themselves range from simple beginner blankets and scarves, and move into more detailed garment patterns, each labeled with a level of difficulty in the top right corner. The deck is a perfect place for a beginning knitter to start making accessories and garments. For a more ambitious and/or experienced knitter, the deck offers a starting point to experiment with textures, lace, and advanced techniques with simple constructions and lines. While I love this deck and have already made 2 items from it, I have only one complaint: I wish the cards included schematic drawings and measurements of the knitwear. One can knit without them, but schematics are a good visualization tool that many knitters use quite frequently.

Great for beginners and experts alike!,

I think that this is a really novel idea, as the patterns are portable and do not get destroyed easily. The instructions are great for beginners and it has more complicated patterns for the more learned as well. The only downside to this is that half of it is baby patterns. While I think it's good to gear the patterns towards any knitter, I think that baby patterns are geared towards a certain group. Having half the deck consist of baby patterns really limits a knitter if they are trying to make things for themselves and friends (without babies.) Of course there should be some baby patterns in there...but there should be a mittens pattern for adults as well and more hats/accessories that aren't holiday related. I would love to make a earflap hat...but not one that looks like a pumpkin!

Plain English, patterns on cards, make easy toting and use,

Kris Percival puts together over twenty easy knitting patterns in KNITTING TO GO: 25 CHIC AND EASY PATTERNS - but there's more to this than the usual book format: KNITTING TO GO holds the patterns on cards which feature easy step-by-step instructions in English rather than the usual knitter's abbreviations. This serves two purposes: it's a snap to select a card/project and use it on the fly, and it is much more inviting to newcomers to knitting. Add a lovely color photo of finished results on each card and you have a truly unique, appealing set.

"Chick and Easy"...NOT,

I bought this product with two expectations. First, the advertised convenience of the cards, and second that the products would be something a person fairly new to knitting could actually craft the products. I was pleased with the presentation and convenience factors. The level of difficulty, however, was something totally different. From the title ...chick and easy... one would expect just that. There are only 3 or 4 products of the 25 that a beginner would even consider, the rest are much to difficult and lengthy. There are actually difficulty ratings on the cards, which is helpful when picking a product, but I will have to look elsewhere for projects that are "easy" for a newbie.

I love this item. I purchased it a B&N sight unseen. I thought the idea was great and it is. All the patterns are awesome. I already ordered yarn to make the two-tone felted bag. I like the size of the cards. I purchased it because the patterns were all on cards I could travel with. A must!

This was one of the very first knitting books I bought as a beginner, and it remains one of my favorites. It has so many nice patterns of things you would actually want to wear. Shawls, simple sweaters, several baby items, a great felted tote, and some really nice scarf patterns. The little cards are perfect for just throwing them in your knitting bag, without dragging around a heavy book. I found the patterns very clear and easy to follow, however, there aren't any schematics. As a bonus, the photography is just beautiful!

I bought these because although I love to knit it does get cumbersome to lug books or magazines around. I was looking for a balance of types of items and these were mostly clothing for adults. I kept about a third of the cards and gave the rest away to friends. Many of the clothing items were for advanced knitters and I like to knit fairly simple. Also, the cards are not as convenient as I hoped. They fold in the middle making it hard to reference things on another part of the card. Making a copy of a pattern (like my knitting guru said) and using that during the knitting makes more sense. You can make notations, keep track of stitches, etc. on your copy. You could make copies of the cards but, honestly, there isn't anything here you haven't seen in a book or magazine.

Love the deck!,

The thing I love about this collection is that not only are the patterns all so doable, but also that they are done in the style of a deck of cards! I love love love it. I don't know why more writers aren't doing their patterns this way. I can organize them in any order that I want and I can throw the pattern(and not a whole book) into my bag with my needles and yarn! There is a great variety of patterns with great pictures and they are sturdy and feel great in your hands. LOVE THEM!

I have been knitting for years, but rarely using patterns. The cards are easy to transport and the patterns are fairly easy to understand (not single letter abbreviations). I have knitted the mittens already, and they are AWESOME (I had never made mittens before and the pattern made it so easy). I gave it a 4 out of 5 because I did have some problems understanding one of the patterns. Overall, I love these cards-- I love all of the author's knitting books!
