4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely but flawed, April 1, 2009

The photographs in this book are lovely, and the range of items is excellent. However, one of the projects that attracted me was a lace shawl, and I found that the instructions didn't match the chart at all. I was able to contact the writer and he told me he was disappointed that errors like that had crept in. I also learned that this is based on a book published in England. (The chart shows it starting from 3 stitches while the instructions say to cast on something like 90 stitches.) I do find it very inspiring, and hope that I am able to complete some of these lovely projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite!, January 30, 2009
This review is from: Knitting to Share: 25 Projects to Show You Care (Paperback)
The author of this book is Gerard Allt (I Knit London, Knit a River/Water Aid, caretoknit.org). Everything from the photography to the projects are very beautiful (Fisherman's sweater, cable cardigan, tea pot cozy, a very cleverly designed and elegant maternity sweater, and a very special two color beret and matching scarf just to name a few). Many of the yarns featured in the samples were made with yarn made with sustainable eco-friendly practices (Garthenor and Cornish Organic, and Devon Goat Company's sustainable made Cashmere). The first chapter is called "Bounty for Babies and Toddlers" and includes the following projects: "Gabriel" - Angel of love and truth: a blanket of love for a special newborn. "Elijah" - Angel of Innocence: Delicate lace wrap for every generation. "Hamied" - Angel of Miracles: Baby's coming home premmie set. "Afriel" - Angel of Youth: Bountiful booties for bare feet. "Rhamiel" - Angel of Empathy: Rosemary, a cuddly rabbit to care for, and "Raphael" - Angel of Healing: A scratch free (cable pullover)sweater in soft alpaca. There are similiar chapters for teens, women, and men (Aran jacket, scarf and cap, socks for soldiers, handwarmers, beanie hat, and a 'heating pad" belt for lower back pain) and for the home (tea cozy, a pillow with a message, and a shopping tote).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lot Of Thoughtfulness In This Book, April 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Knitting to Share: 25 Projects to Show You Care (Paperback)
The patterns in this book are great gift ideas for sharing with friends & family! The photography's good & the patterns are very nice, a little bit of something for everyone on your gift list! Thoughtful patterns that can show how much you care. I liked the section in the back, where they provide a list of charities you can knit for - our knitting club accepts donations of unwanted yarn from people, which we use to knit for various charities.
