I was excited about this book, but there aren't many things I want to actually make. The photography is lovely and the recipies look delicious. Great eye candy but there are better knitting patterns and books out there.

Glad I bought it, could have done without it,

I bought this book because I am looking for a top down cricket sweater pattern which this isn't. I do however like the pattern of the one on the cover. I was very happy when the book came and the tea recipes were really an added bonus.

This was an impulse purchase. I was in the middle of reading Mason-Dixon Knits blog when this book was mentioned. They (Kay and Ann) kindly provided a link to Amazon, and within minutes I had purchased another knitting book. Upon its arrival, I first leafed through looking for the photos of finished knitting items, but ended up making time for reading the entire book. The photos were stunning, the text was well written, and those patterns! Yum! If you're a knitter, at whatever level there are patterns in here that will appeal to you. And if you're a knitter that enjoys a cuppa tea while plying your needles, this book will enlighten and entertain as well! Go get it!!!

Fabulous Book,

This is a gorgeous knitting book. It makes me want to kick off my shoes, put the kettle on, and knit one of the several patterns I'm dying to make. It's fun, exotic, classy, stylish and a travel adventure as well as a very useful book full of fun and practical projects for everyone. I could spend a year making everything in it, including the cakes.

Can't wait to get out my knitting needles (and baking pans),

This book is gorgeous: the photographs, the recipes, and the patterns! There are many designs I want to try, the problem is picking which one to start with: the cricket jacket, the shrug with the hood and tassle, the striped gloves, or the sweater on the cover? I'm afraid this book is pushing back other projects in my knitting queue. On the baking side, I plan to make the Bakewell Tart tonight... it looks delicious. The history behind tea is also fascinating. This book includes all my favourite things!

25 classic knits pair with teas that inspired them and photos by Patrick Gottelier in a fine survey of tearooms around the world and the connections between tea and knit designs. From a Cricket Sweater to Tea Cozies and a Cupcake Cardigan, all levels of knitter will find this an inspired presentation.

Spiral Tablecloth Errata,

This review is from: Knitting and Tea: 25 Classic Knits and the Teas That Inspired Them (Hardcover)
Great book. However:
I'm just finishing up the Spiral Tablecloth pattern which has 65 pattern rows, the majority of which up until round 54 all have a knitted round between them. Finished round 61 only to find that there were two stitches missing to complete round 62. So, be aware if you do this nice, Niebling-like doily that there is a correction to be made in round 62 and possibly in other rounds. We'll see. I'm going to check if the publisher has issued an errata sheet for the book. Hope so.

Knitting, tea, oh my,
By Marge (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knitting and Tea: 25 Classic Knits and the Teas That Inspired Them (Hardcover)
Knitting and Tea: 25 Classic Knits and the Teas That Inspired Them by Jane Gottelier is a lovely book that melds two different, but complementary activities. There is nothing I like better than to sit down with a cup of tea and my knitting after a long hectic day. This book explores that world. The patterns are fairly traditional, but with modern styling and the essays on tea, where it comes from and where to drink it are very interesting. At first I picked up the book because the title intrigued me, but then I got lost in it. I have earmarked at least two patterns, the Somerset Cable Sweater and the Builders Cable sweater for a closer look. Many of the patterns have charts (especially the intarsia sweaters and cables) and all of the chapters explain why the author feels knitting and tea go hand-in-hand.

I enjoyed this book but I found that some of the instructions are difficult to understand. I haven't knit anything from it yet as I am finishing up other products but I look forward to attempting to knit a few of the patterns.

The patterns are beautiful but not that original. Tried the clotted cream biscuits. I think they left something out of the recipe, they were terrible.
