1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing April 14, 2011
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
I am an avid knitter and subscribe to all the regular knitting magazines: Vogue, Interweave, Knit Simple, Cast On, Creative Knitting, Knitter's . . . This magazine is far inferior. There was only one pattern I would knit in it and it was very thin. I wouldn't renew!

3.0 out of 5 stars mix of project types, low on instructions February 13, 2012
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
Your Knitting Life! Magazine (formally called Knitting Today! Magazine) features a mixed bag of knitting patterns. The average number of patterns per issue is 25.

The patterns include items intended for various ages from baby to adult and include: -- sweaters (usually two or more per issue)
-- shawls/shawlettes/capes (these don't appear in every issue, but do pop up often)
-- blankets/afghans (There's been three. Two of which, if memory serves, have been spread out across multiple issues as a handful of afghan squares appear per issue.)
-- home decorating items like pillows and table runners
-- hats (there's usually at least two in each issue)
-- scarves (in the winter/fall months especially)
-- hand ware -- gloves, mittens, fingerless mitts (usually in the winter/fall months)
-- baby items (onesies, diaper covers, bibs, booties, mobiles)
-- knitted toys
-- bags
-- socks (usually one per issue)
-- misc items like swiffer covers, headbands, and eyeglass cases

I've subscribed to the magazine for a little over a year. IMO, the emphasis for the magazine as a whole seems to be sweaters and children's items -- clothing and accessories making it Mommy knitter friendly.

As an FYI, The yarn brand most frequently suggested for those patterns is Red Heart. There's sometimes others, but the majority seems to call for Red Heart.

The difficulty levels on the patterns varies from complex like colorwork (intarsia and fair isle) to straight garter or st. st. The labeling guide they use for the magazine, IMO, is subjective and not true to how easy/hard something can be. Again, as any knitting knows, how easy you find something is based on your own abilities and experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this magazine! October 13, 2011
Subscription Term Name:1 year|Verified Purchase
This is my favorite knitting magazine because, unlike some of the others I've seen, this one includes projects I would actually use, wear, and give as gifts. The patterns are do-able and my FAVORITE thing about them is that most are designed to be used with affordable and accessible yarn (like Red Heart, Caron, Lion Brand, etc)! So many knitting books and magazines seem to ignore the fact that not everyone can afford to use $20-per-ball luxury yarn to knit something like, say, a sweater requiring 19 balls of yarn.
